Milo
Nowadays, there is a large number of families that believe that dogs should be treated like members of the family. I strongly agree with that belief. When treated correctly dogs can be the most loveable creatures on the planet. Unfortunately, not all dogs have the same luck, as I had the misfortune of witnessing first hand.
My parents both had very good jobs so you could say we lived well. My mom worked for an attorney and my dad was an associate at a very big and important company. Unfortunately my dad was laid off because the company he worked at was shut down so we had to do some changes. Since they were supporting us with my mom’s income only, my parents decided that we had to move to a more affordable place. They found a house on the other side of town. It was smaller than our previous one but it was nice. Next door to us lived an old man named Mr. Ray. He always looked mad and never had any visitors. His only companion was a beautiful brown Labrador named Milo. He was a very friendly and playful dog.
Milo seemed like a normal dog but what none of us knew was that he was being abused by Mr. Ray. He would mistreat, starve, and leave Milo abandoned for days, sometimes even weeks. We realized all of this because there were times when we would not see Milo for days and when we did, he looked skinny and small compared to his usual self. There were even times when he would be limping. That was what freighted us the most. After some time of seeing this, we decided to tell our parents about what was going on with Milo. Since they were not sure of what was going on, they decided to go and talk to Mr. Ray. At first he denied everything but after a long talk, he came through and admitted to everything we had said. He confessed that he had anger problems and Milo always seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
