1. What are four types of essay organization discussed in the course readings? a. Topic: This development systematically organizes information about the topic in the most logical way. b. Time order: It is using sequential or chronological order to write an essay. It organizes the information from one time period to another. c. Space order: This involves the occupying organization of ideas. This deals with location of people, places or things. d. Informative process: This is a way of structuring your essay in a how-to format. It is written in a step-by-step arrangement in their natural occurring order. 2. What characteristics make these essays expository?

The essay “A soul as free as the air” essay is expository because it is biographical and uses historical facts to explain and inform who Lucy Stone was and why she is referred to as having a “soul as free as air”. It is not done from a bias stand point and you cannot determine the author’s views about the topic anywhere in the essay. f. The essay “Farthest, faintest objects found beyond Neptune” makes use of scientifically proven evidence and facts produced through science and by scientists to inform the reader unbiased about what is found past Neptune. The essay that stated astronomers using the Hubble telescope found objects of ice and rock orbiting around Neptune. 3. What distinguishes space organization from time organization or informative process organization in an essay? g. Time organization refers to placing information in chronological order by date or a specific time. Space order deals with location, example being nearest planet to farthest planet away from earth.
