The most recent financial crisis was an all encompassing meltdown that affected the entire global economy. It is nearly impossible to quantify the distress this crisis put on the American economy and the world has yet to see the long term damage. After any disaster, people are eager to point fingers. This financial meltdown was no different, as critics were quick to blame anything and anyone from Wall Street to fair value accounting. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what caused the most recent financial crisis, and even time may not tell. Economists are still trying to figure out why the stock market crashed in 1929, and Ben Bernanke recently stated “to understand the Great Depression is the Holy Grail of macroeconomics.” (Bernanke) Most of the discussion aimed at identifying causes of the crisis is focused on the financial structure of our economy. This has led to incongruent conclusions by many financial experts. It may be more important to direct attention to the social mechanisms that could have influenced not only this most recent crisis, but also the stock market crash of 1929 that threw the United States into the Great Depression.…

The Wall Street Crash of 1929, also known as Black Tuesday[1] and the Stock Market Crash of 1929, began in late October 1929 and was the most devastating stock market crash in the history of the United States, when taking into consideration the full extent and duration of its fallout.[2] The crash signaled the beginning of the 10-year Great Depression that affected all Western industrialized countries[3] The American mobilization for World War II at the end of 1941 moved approximately ten million people out of the civilian labor force and into the war.[4] World War II had a dramatic effect on many parts of the economy, and may have hastened the end of the Great Depression in the United States.[5] Government-financed capital spending accounted for only 5 percent of the annual U.S. investment in industrial capital in 1940; by 1943, the government accounted for 67 percent of U.S. capital investment.[6]…

The end of World War I heralded a new era in the United States. It was an era of enthusiasm, confidence, and optimism (Rosenberg). It is in such times of optimism that people took their savings out from under their mattresses and out of banks and invested it in the stock market. With everyone’s money in the market, the 1929 stock market crash took a heavy toll on everyone. This crash was a shattering event that went on to shape this country. Even though the market crash was nearly a hundred years ago, its prevention is still heavily debated today (The First Measured Century). Many experts will state that nothing could have been done to prevent the crash. That it was inevitable. On the other hand, another group of experts disagree. I feel that if people's high speculation was controlled, banks planned better, or the stock market had regulations, then the horrible 1929 crash could have been prevented.…

Autism is a disorder that is not restricted to a certain race, gender or to the scale of development of the country, and that’s what I want others to understand. For this research I have read and searched through a number of books, both hard cover and electronic, I have also read a lot of medical web articles, and looked through autism organization websites to validate the accuracy of my material. Through this research I have found that there are in fact several factors that contribute in the cause of Autism, such as: genetic and environmental factors. But sadly to this day no exact cause has been known for sure.…

The stock market has its own behavior and this one is unpredictable and depends on the shareholder’s mood. If the shareholders are feeling confidence, then sales and the movement in the stock market will increase, in contrast, if they feel worried about something, sales and movement will decrease. Sometimes, the market reacts irrationally to the mood of the shareholders and it can cause problems, even though it is unpredictable, there is a hypothesis which can predict almost all of its movements. The stock market’s behavior is just like a rollercoaster ride and it reacts on the shareholders attitude.…

In 2008, the world economy saw a large recession on the worldwide scale due to the negative influences on the global financial and economic crisis. The capital market is the market for long-term loans and equity capital. For any developing countries capital market is very important for economic growth. The securities market works as a bridge between the savings and the preferred investment across the business entities and other economic units, specially the general households that in aggregate form the surplus savings units. Especially at times when the banking sector of the country is facing the challenge of bringing down the advance deposit ratio to sustainable level, the economy of the country is unfolding newer horizon of opportunities. Due to overexposure level of the financial system the securities market could play a very positive role, had there been no market debacle. Bangladesh having its target to become a middle income country must have significant level of rise in investment, which at the present state of banking system cannot be met. The securities market could play the key role in meeting these huge investment demands if the secondary market would remain stable. An equity market, by allowing diversification across variety of assets, helps reduce the risk the investors must bear, thus reducing the cost of capital, which in…

The study finds that key indicators are significantly correlated. Stock market growth index is constructed considering market capitalization ratio; turn over ratio, value traded to GDP ratio and volatility in market index.
