1. Analyze the dream based on Freudian psychoanalytic (wish-fulfillment) theory. Include relevant dream symbols in this analysis. Dream interpretation is the process of assigning meaning to dreams. [ In many ancient societies, such as those of Egypt and Greece, dreaming was considered a supernatural communication or a means of divine intervention, whose message could be unravelled by people with certain powers. In modern times, various schools of psychology have offered theories about the meaning of dreams 2. Analyze the dream based on Dreams for Survival theory. The dreams-for-survival theory is the idea that dreaming allows a person to process information from the day and this is how a person learns and develops memories. This may be the way in which the brain stores, processes, and learns information. [ This makes sense since many of the dreams that people have often relate to parts of their everyday lives. ] 3. Analyze the dream based on Activation Synthesis theory. Large parts of the brain that are activated and sending signals during waking are inactive during NREM sleep and become reactivated during REM sleep. It is based on the fact that the brain and its neural circuitry is plastic and self-regulating, especially in its own activation and inactivation. This was observed by two experiments: development of sleepiness after dopamine neuron destruction in substantia nigra in the midbrain, and discovery of the reticular activating system, which are visual cues received through our eyes and to our brain that begin the waking process, that waking consciousness depends sleep. Following these studies, it became clear that activity levels and quality of consciousness were functions of brain activation and deactivation. 4. Which theory do you prefer in understanding this dream? Why? I prefer the Freudian psychoanalytic (wish-fulfillment) theory in understanding this dream. Its more simple to understand and evaluate for me. As a simple example, assume...
