Brazilian Demographics
Brazil’s most recent census was taken in August of 2000. The number estimated by the United States Census Bureau, 205,716,890 people, is roughly 3.8% higher than the number reported in 2000, 169,872,855 people. Brazil’s median age is 29.3 years, with over 66% of its habitants in the age range of 15-64 years. Their population is growing at a rate of 1.1 % with 17.48 births per thousand. With 5 cities with a population of over 3 million, Brazil has a very urban population with 87% of total population living in an urban area. It is also a very diverse ethnic group with 53.7% White, 38.5% mulatto (mixed, African-American and white), 6.2% African-American, 0.9% other (Middle-Eastern, Asian and Amerindian), and 0.7% unspecified. Portuguese is the most widely spoken language with other European languages spoken intermediately. The majority of the population is Roman Catholic, 73.6%, with Protestants making up 15.4% of the population. The country is also very literate with 88.6% of the total population over the age of 15 having the ability to read and write (C.I.A, 2013). Business Background

In the past, Brazil’s monetary unit and political structure were seen an unstable. This has begun to change and the country’s potential is now beginning to show.
