1.0 Introduction
This study is an investigation into the current funding cuts which the government are imposing upon the arts, and the effects of these on the population. The investigative work shall be carried out through the medium of questionnaires distributed both physically and electronically throughout the student body of SBS Sheffield Hallam University, and interviews conducted with various members of society - both in the arts community and outside of it. As this is a nationwide issue, the researcher is primarily focusing on the impacts of the cuts within Sheffield and will conduct a case study upon this area in the later literature review of the issue.
2.0 Outline of Study: Context and Objectives
2.1 Aim: The primary aim of this study is to raise awareness of the funding cuts being made within the arts sector, and to discover how these funding cuts are affecting local residents within Sheffield.
The research for this study shall be carried out in two parts, with an initial research study being carried out to collect a wide range of secondary data upon the subject of the funding cuts from a variety of both government and academic sources. This shall be followed by the author's research study to collect primary data from the residents of Sheffield, where the study shall be focused. All participants within the research will be of a willing nature, and are permitted to withdraw their responses at any time throughout the course of analysis until the date of publication. As per the previously submitted ethics form (see proposal), this study shall not cause distress or be of an offensive nature to any persons or parties, and shall be conducted within a safe environment.
