Strategic Procurement has gained great attention in the corporate world due to its contribution to an organization’s bottom line. Strategic Procurement enables managers to effectively implement the budget estimates through planning for the supply requirements. The importance of strategic procurement and its relation to purchasing will further increase in the future. The ability to fully exploit the potential of internal as well as external sources is closely related to the strategic procurement capabilities of a company. Strategic procurement deals with entities that come from various internal and external sources that create great potential for problems with integration, communication and co-ordination, and conflicting directions hence the need for this study to highlight the challenges of strategic procurement on internal supply performance. The major objective of this study therefore, was to explore the challenges of Strategic Procurement in supply performance in JKUAT TTC. The researchers pursued specific objectives in order to obtain the desired information. They used a case study research design, which was carried out at JKUAT TTC. The target population comprised of two hundred and fifty employees, and especially those involved in Strategic Procurement process. The sample size was determined through stratified random sampling procedure.
Structured questionnaires were used as the main research instrument to collect the primary data. The data collected was edited for accuracy, uniformity, consistency and completeness then analyzed in frequency distribution tables.
