An Inconvenient Truth An Inconvenient Truth is the creation of politician and environmentalist Al Gore who, in an attempt to educate the masses on the severity of the climate crisis, created this award winning documentary and book on climate change. The book begins with the inspirational quotes and historical anecdotes examining humanity’s coexistence with the Earth. Soon after the stunning photos of our planet are replaced with a myriad of flow charts and infographics to illustrate the Earth’s rising temperatures, sea levels, CO2, and the increase in natural disasters. Gore continues throughout the book to show the alarming effects that climate change is having on our world. Many photo comparisons of glaciers are used to show rising temperatures throughout the world. Gore uses computer generated simulations of rising sea levels, due to melting ice caps and glaciers, which provide a harsh glimpse into the possible future. Using a large variety of pictures and graphs Gore simplifies the complex scientific data into an easily comprehensible picture book.
Throughout the book, Gore discusses the scientific opinion on climate change, as well as the present and future effects of global warming and stresses that climate change "is really not a political issue, so much as a moral one", describing the consequences he believes global climate change will produce if the amount of greenhouse gases is not significantly reduced in the near future. Toward the end of his book Gore begins to provide examples of how current environmental issues are deeply connected to the financial interests of many influential people. He then addressed the effects of corporate interests on political decisions relating to dealing with climate change, such as fracking, fossil fuel consumption, and pollution.
