Visayas State University is the premier university here in the Visayas, established way back in 1924 and has been the center of excellence in agriculture and allied fields for years up to present and is getting even better. VSU celebrated 87 years of delivering the future through its outstanding programs, unique teaching strategies, technological innovations, and leadership practices that continue to make a difference. And with this year’s anniversary celebration bearing the theme “Beyond Science and Technology: Commercializing Innovations” comes different fun-filled activities that surely attracted many people whether residing in or out of the campus whom witnessed the annual and memorable event in the university. The students, including the university’s faculty and staff were all busy preparing and participating to the different activities held from August 2- 11, 2011. The Flower and Garden Show was held on August 2, 2011, thus, served as the opening event, but it wouldn’t be possible without the different ornamental plant lovers showcasing their most beautiful and pampered plants. August 6, 2011 marked the date for the Blood Letting and Free Medical Services held at the New Balay Alumni Building. The blood donors which consist of students and other faculty members have undergone series of tests to assess whether they are capable of participating in the said activity. On August 9, 2011, Goodwill Games which included Tennis Men and Women, Table Tennis, Basketball Men and Women, Volleyball Men and Women and Ultimate Frisbee was held at the Lower and Upper Campus Sports Areas where both the young and old sports lovers have created bonds that will be cherished as they exchange phrases “till next time!” Later that evening was the most highlighted event of this year’s anniversary, The Search for the Ms. VSU 2011, held at the VSU Gymnatorium with Ms. Mary Grace Montajes as the newly crowned candidate, a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant...
