One Book, Three Men:
An analysis of the story ‘Jesus Drives out a Demon and Heals a Person’
(Matthew 12:22-32//Mark 3:20-30//Luke 11:14-23)
The Gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John have all been known to be stories within the bible that retell the life and death of Jesus Christ decades after Jesus left this earth. People over time have debated whether these stories should be known as sources of history, biographies, archival records or just plain old stories that amuse and fulfill some kind of purpose in individuals’ lives. This debate has arisen due to the fact that all four gospels seem to share and dispute events that supposedly occurred within Jesus’ short lifetime on earth. The Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke seem share the most similarities, whereas the Gospel of John demonstrates the most differences which does not even include the birth and Last Supper of Jesus. These discrepancies between similar stories can be confusing, especially since the four writers of the Gospels are actually anonymous. The full truth of what actually occurred at the time Jesus was on earth may never be known, however, what can be done with these four gospels and parables is to sort out and compare each story to try and find the similarities and differences to uncover some truth and meaning in each version.
The first step to tackle the three different versions of Jesus Drives Out a Demon and Heals a Person is to sort through the versions and write out the similarities that could be comparable in any way, whether it is similar wording, ideas, surroundings, and people. Even though there were only four passages that were similar, this number was more than expected considering the vast majority of differences that have been known between the three gospels.
What were found for similar phrasing are the following passages:
Matthew 12:24// Mark 3:22// Luke 11:15... [continues]
