What is the American dream; according to James Truslow Adams it is, “that dream if a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement.”
Is that the American dream or is it something else? To me the American dream is one of many things and it depends on the background you come from. I am happy to say that I have grown up with a background more fortunate than others so my dream will be different from someone who is not used to the American social system. The American dream to me is a driving a $100,000 car and living in a lakeside mansion. Now the American dream of someone in a less fortunate part of the world might a similar dream as James Truslow Adams. The dream of having an equal chance to become successful in whatever it is in what you desire.
My American dream is different from someone else’s in a different part of the world because I have never been limited to what I can and cannot do to become successful. I have always had the freedom to express myself that is why my dream is driving a Ferrari. I will never know what it is like to have a government tell me what I can and can’t accomplish. Now someone who is familiar with the lifestyle of a limiting government dreams to become an American. They want to become American to become successful and choose the direction they want to go in life. [continues]
