America and Obama Care

For most of my life I’ve been opposed to universal health care for the burden on small business. My personal observation of people choosing between putting food on the table and going to the doctor, I’ve made a180 degree turn and now it has my full support . I still must point out some very reasonable people are opposed on economic and constitutional reasons. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, i.e. Obama care with all its faults is still best for America because it provides affordable care for the poor, improves the health of America, and guarantees insurance for the ill. Many opponents of Obama Care question the constitutionality of the proposed act. For example, within my own family there appears to be a significant divide regarding this subject. While many hold views similar to mine, others argue that it is unconstitutional for the government to force people to take insurance and tax those that do not. Regarding this concern, the US Supreme Court ruled the government cannot force people to acquire insurance but they can tax those that don’t. After the court ruling the House Speaker John Boehner stated the act “now law of the land” but his office quickly stated to The Huffington Pos t “the Speaker still believes the law should be changed or eliminated”. Sources have been quoting individuals and research groups on both sides of the law. From an Article on About.com, Kimberly Amadeo quotes from the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) that under the Act 32 million Americans will be able to get health insurance. This group normally uses hospital emergency rooms for their primary care increasing the overall cost to everyone.
