Statiunea balneoclimaterica Sovata

Localitatea Sovata este declarata statiune in anul 1884 iar in 1952 primeste titlul de oras, in zilele noastre avand aproximativ 12240 locuitori si 4 localitati in subordine (Capeti, Iliesi, Sacadat, Sarateni). Statiunea are o clima subalpina, cu veri

    8. The three abiotic spheres are the Atmosphere, Hydrosphere and the Lithosphere. Each one of these spheres interacts with each other and the biosphere in unique and different ways. The atmosphere works with the biosphere in that it uses the gases released from living things to form itself. It also receives gases from the Lithosphere, or the earths crust to help form itself. The atmosphere helps all living things survive by keeping an oxygen rich environment and keeping out harmful rays from the sun. The lithosphere helps control the movement of heat from within the earths crust to help make it possible for life to survive. It also is part of the soil layer which is essential to plant life. The Hydrosphere is very important because it has all the water on earth. This is in the form of ice sheets, liquid or vapor, and they are all essential to the survival of living things.…

Finally, the author argues that the sea cows were exterminated by the European fur traders coming after 1741. Environmental Studies 190 has been an extremely beneficial course to me. This was my first quarter at the University of California, Santa Barbara as a transfer student. My first quarter was difficult for me because I was not accustomed to the pace of the system. I came from a community college that was on the semester system. There were a few classes that I was not as excited to attend every week. This course was not one of them. I was excited to come to class every Wednesday to come and listen to the wonderful people who donated their time to speak to students.…

In the Mixteca Alta region, several of environmental changes were examined by Veronica Perez and Kirk Anderson. The changes examined were mainly soil-related. For example, in the community of “Magdalena Peñasco the inhabitants have had to reinforce government buildings with stilts since the land has eroded from under them” (Perez & Kirk 2013: 346). This indicates that the strength of the soil to support houses, buildings, and the community has diminished over time. Another example of an environmental change that occurred in the Mixteca Alta region is “there are areas where the topsoil is gone and the exposed surfaces are red Yanhuitlán beds or exposed white caliche” (Perez & Kirk 2013: 346). According to Perez and Kirk, the white caliche is “a hardened accumulation deposit of calcium carbonate where agricultural production is virtually impossible” (2013: 346). Meanwhile, Hazel Delcourt analyzed changes in the forest, changes in dominance of certain trees species, and changes in land mosaic. For example, she concluded that “changes in both the distribution and relative abundance of European forests trees since the last full glacial interval of the Pleistocene have resulted from climatic change, pathogen outbreaks and human activities” (1987: 39). In addition, she brought forth the idea that clearance of land for swidden agriculture could have contributed to the decrease in elm (1987:39). In regards to the change in dominance, Delcourt examined the tree species in the Iroquois sites near Crawford Lake where she proposed the dominance of tree species shifted from beech and sugar maple to oak and white pine (1987:40). These examples of how certain species were replaced by others demonstrates how human activities like agriculture altered the…

    An Environmental Study

You are a general contractor wishing to put up a modest sized cement production plant on the outskirts of town. The plant would operate on only one 10-hour shift per day and would produce about 400 cubic yards of output per day for six days per week. It is necessary for an environmental impact study to be undertaken before the county can issue a permit. The biggest issue is, of course, the air quality implications of cement production, but potential impacts on water quality are of concern as well. It is now October, and you want to start building the plant by the end of next summer, if at all possible. It is now time to issue an RFP to procure an environmental impact analysis. Studies of this type normally require about three months of concerted effort by a team of analysts…

There are many questions about global warming, from its causes to its effects, and many people even question whether or not it even exists. Global warming is described as the increase of the average temperature of the Earth caused by increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases produced by human activities, such as deforestation, use of fertilizers, fossil fuel combustion and cement production. According to the global warming theory, the intensification of industrial activities during the twentieth century (based on the fossil fuel combustion such as petrol and coal) increased the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere.…
