Alternative Funding
Finding funding for a non-profit organization can be difficult.   There are the traditional forms such as public and private grants but it takes more of an imagination to fund raise in the nontraditional way.   Educational programs like Far West elementary school have many opportunities for nontraditional fund raising.   Staff, students, and parents of the students are all viable sources to contribute to fundraising.   Many schools hold fundraising events several times a year.   Bake sales and mini carnivals are two ways funds can be raised with little or no cost to the school.   Many small local businesses and restaurants offer fundraising opportunities by contributing a percentage of sales of particular products for a specific amount of time like sub sales, pizza sales, t-shirts or pocket calendars.   Small craft projects such as buttons, pins, hair ties, and Christmas ornaments can be made by individual students in after school programs or students in art classes or clubs.   Far West Elementary School has a large amount of Asian students.   This could provide for many fundraising opportunities that will also introduce the many new residents and their culture to the community.   Bake sales involving Asian foods, carnivals involving Asian oriented games and activities, and Asian crafts and artwork sold at craft fairs are all ways to raise funds and increase social interaction. For schools that do not have the time to organize fundraising events or may need additional ideas there are now many internet web sites that offer these services.   One good example is Cauzoom.   Cauzoom offers fundraising ideas, printing ideas and services for fliers and advertisement of the event, and internet advertisement of the event.
Nontraditional fundraising ideas for school systems are as varied and unlimited as the imaginations of the staff, students and parents involved with the school.... [continues]
