Alcohol Addiction
Alcohol is everywhere in our culture and society, sharing a bottle of wine over a meal, going out for drinks with friends, and celebrating special occasions with champagne. Alcohol is such a common popular element in many activities; it can be hard to see when your drinking has crossed the line from moderate or social use to problem drinking. Having a drinking problem has many effects in your life. If you are not aware of your problem you can have many physical, economic, social, and legal consequences. Alcoholism and alcohol abuse can sneak up on you, so it’s important to be aware of the warning signs and take steps to cut back if you recognize them. If drinking is affecting your life then, you have a drinking problem.

The cause of alcohol addiction is not well established. Some people believe that alcohol addiction is not developed over time, it is just genetic. Others believe it has to do with the person’s social make up and who you surround yourself with. Say you associate yourself with others that drink heavily you are more likely to do the same. Emotional and psychological issues also play a big role in a person’s drinking problem, which includes mental health problems like anxiety, depression, or bi polar disorder. Also the younger you start to drink, there is no doubt you will develop a drinking problem later in life. There is not an exact reason why or what causes people develop this problem, but there is a lot of growing evidence.

If you are drinking everyday for a long period of time you would be considered an alcoholic, and with that being stated there is going to be many physical effects as a result of that. Brain and liver damage is the number one effect alcohol will have on your body. Difficultly walking, blurred vision, slurred speech, slowed reaction time, and impaired memory are all affects on the brain. Cirrhosis of the liver is developed after a decade of heavy drinking.
