Modus Operandi
Albert DeSalvo’s Modus Operandi was strangulation. He would break into his victim’s homes and sexually assault them first. He would then strangle them with their own pieces of clothing.

DeSalvo lived in Chelsea, Massachusetts at the time of the crimes. Massachusetts did have the death penalty at the time but Albert did not receive it. He received life in prison but murdered by another inmate. He was stabbed to death in 1973 at the age of 42.

It was not proven till 2013 that DeSalvo was actually the Boston Strangler. DeSalvo admitted to killing all 13 of the victims but the court could not prove it. The DNA found on his last victim matches his DNA.

We examined the different patterns, and identifying marks that can be used to determine whose fingerprints were found at the crime scene. As we studied the fingerprints, we discovered that one of the fingerprints contained a loop in its pattern. After further examination and consideration, we determined that this particular print pattern belongs to Alex Garcia, Anna’s ex-husband.…

Months later, on November 30th, married, 52-year-old father, Gary Ridgway, is arrested as he leaves his truck-painting job. Thankfully, it is the end of the longest running serial killer investigation in U.S. history; the break in the case was connecting the DNA taken when Gary Ridgway was arrested for the relatively minor offence of ‘loitering for the purposes of soliciting prostitution’. And this wasn’t the first time Ridgway’s connection to prostitutes had come to the attention of the police.
