Whenever there is debate about low-cost airlines, Air Arabia is for sure to come into mind. Operating since 2003, Air Arabia has managed to get its name into the most preferred low cost airlines. It is rated as the 3-star budget airline by “skytrax”. Not only does provides fairly good services at quite reasonable rates, but also happens to be the first and hence the largest low cost airline in the entire middle east that operates timely services to more than 57 destinations worldwide.
Air Arabia came into existence on 3rd February 2003 through an Amiri Decree which was issued by Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qassimi of Sharjah. It started its operations on 28th October 2003 – precisely 9 months after its formation. The first flight was a successful one from Sharjah International Airport to Bahrain International Airport. The very first year proved quite fruitful due to which it offered a 55% share of its capital to the public in the year 2007.
It was first found through an Amiri decree but then later was made a limited liability company. Still later on 2007 it was given the status of a Public Joint Stock Company (PJSC) fulfilling all the required legal procedures.
Air Arabia mostly operates A380 airbuses. It now has a total of 27 Airbuses, both leased and owned, operating to more than 57 destinations in Asia, Africa and Europe continents. Air Arabia happens to be the first low cost airline that has the newest aircrafts. It has a single cabin.
Since Air Arabia is a low cost airline, it provides only its services within the given ticket amount (ground and on-board). Any additional services such as onboard refreshments etc. has to be paid separately.
Air Arabia has three main centers through which it operates. First being its base, Sharjah Intl Airport, U.A.E. Second is the Muhammad V Intl Airport in Casablanca, Morocco. And third is the Borg Al Arab Intl Airport in Alexandria.
From the above mentioned 3 hubs, Air Arabia provides operational services to 67 destinations across Africa, Asia and Europe. Given below is the list of a few destinations taken from Air Arabia’s official website (www.airarabia.com) From Sharjah Intl Airport:
