Ailing Planet

The environmental crisis is largely due to the fact that we use too much resources, reuse too little of them and produce too much waste. There are four factors that have contributed to this situation: human activites such as agriculture and industry, population explosion, technological advances and modern lifestyle.
Human activities like agriculture and industry have been a great impact on the environment. Agriculture needs lots of land for growing crops and rearing of animals. Because of this, large areas of forests have been cleared and it leads to a reduction of oxygen in the atmosphere. A lot of the industries have given out harmful gases such as sulphur dioxide which can harm us. Some industries also dispose their waste substances improperly which can damage the environment and we will suffer.
The world has a rapid increase in the population since the early 20th century. If you think it is a good sign, you are wrong. With more people, more resources are used up. The resources will soon be finished and we will die without it. There will also be more waste produced and soon a lot of land is needed for these piles of waste. Although more population prevent the human race from getting extinct but more people means more pollution, more sprawls, less green space, and even more demands on the earth's already overburdened resources.
There are a great number of inventions which have improved our lives. However, some of the inventions such as the car, damages the environment by producing poisonous carbon monoxide. It can cause brain damage and even death if you are always exposed to carbon monoxide.
In the modern day world that we live in, technology is forever changing and improving all around us. When we talk about new technology, we are talking about the development of objects and processes in which being created can modify and improve our lives.
