Argument for changing the drinking age
I am choosing to do my report on age restrictions on alcohol relative to military eligibility.   This is something I know a little about, because of growing up in Arizona.   In Arizona they changed the drinking age the year I turned eighteen.   To me this was and still is something that is wrong with the laws we do have here in America.   How can you be old enough to be considered an adult and be able to die for your country, but still be to young to be allowed to drink alcohol?
The above question is one that burns through this whole thing.   When a male turns eighteen he must sign up for the Selective Services.   This means that he is an adult and there for old enough for military service.   During the Vietnam war era this also meant he could be drafted.   If the draft was still in effect then a male that has reached the age of eighteen then he could be drafted, serve, and possibly die for his country.   At the same time his country would still say that he was not old enough to drink.
Now how can you be an adult and be allowed to die for your country, but not be adult enough to have a drink?   I know that young adults make up more of the fatal drinking and driving accidents, but at the same time the young adult that may die in this crash could be sent to another country and die serving his country in the Armed Forces.   So how is this different really?   The young adult still ends up in the same position which he has lost his life?
Another way to look at this question is how can a person be an adult and not an adult at the same time?   When a person turns eighteen the are supposed to be an adult and have all the rights of an adult but one (the right to drink).   This person still needs to wait three more years to get this right.   So this says that the person...
