Advertisement today sells more than what is seen to the keen eyes. At first, it may seem as if the advertisement is innocently advertising a certain product but if we take a closer look examining and comparing them to others, we will see with a different point of view. In truth, there are actually many different messages that they are sending out, ranging from sexual to racial stereotypes. It takes a little more than a glance to see the message but once you see it, you will notice it more often. In that advertisement created by Burger King in 2009, they were advertising their new “BK Super Seven Incher”. Featured on the top left side of the advertisement, there is a young blond woman featured with her eyes and her red lips wide open. Looking on the top right side of the advertisement, there is an enlarged image of Burger King’s new burger, one end off the page and the other end pointing towards the girl’s wide open mouth. Also, featured on the middle of the advertisement is the enlarged words, “IT’LL BLOW YOUR MIND AWAY”. Finally, on the bottom of the advertisement we see a price and their description, "Fill your desire for something long, juicy and flame-grilled with the NEW BK SUPER SEVEN INCHER. Yearn for more after you taste the mind-blowing burger that comes with a single beef patty, topped with American cheese, crispy onions and the A1 Thick and Hearty Steak Sauce."

Burger King thinks that it could fool us into thinking that it is only advertising its product. The truth is that the advertisement is selling much more than that. “Ads sell a great deal more than products. They sell values, images, and concepts of success and worth, love and sexuality, popularity and normalcy.”(Killbourne) Killbourne was right and this advertisement just proves her more right than ever.
