➢ Speed: A computer is a fast device. It performs tasks done by a human being in a day within a fraction of seconds. A powerful computer is capable of doing 3 to 4 million simple calculations per second. The speed of the computer is measured in terms of microsecond (10-6), in nanoseconds (10-9) and picoseconds (10-12). ➢ Accuracy: The accuracy of computers is consistently high. The accuracy depends on the quality and design of the program. Errors can occur in a computer and they are mainly due to human mistakes instead of technological mistakes. ➢ Diligence: A computer is free from monotony, fatigue, lack of concentration, etc, and hence it can work for hours straight together without creating any errors. ➢ Versatility: it is one of the important merits of the computer. A computer is capable of performing multi-tasks at a time. If the program permits, a computer can simultaneously feed the data, print the bills, play music and movies as well as opening of other required files without disturbing any other task. ➢ Storage of data: A computer is capable of storing data and can recall any information, any amount of information due to its storage capacity. Even after several years, the information recalled will be as accurate as on the day it was saved to the computer. ➢ Computer technology is rapidly advancing. Innovations are constantly emerging, while related costs drop. By understanding their present needs and future technical requirements, the cost-conscious educator can effectively navigate the volatile computer hardware and software market.
