According to the inventor, Pranav Mistry, “The Sixth Sense”, is a device that will give easy access to relevant information which already exists on the Internet. It is a new technological device that consists of a camera, portable battery powered projector, mirror, cell-phone, and coloured caps. The system not only recognizes natural gestures like zooming in and out of maps, but also iconic gestures such as taking a picture; just make a frame with your fingers of the area you wish to capture. Information could be displayed on any surface available, even your hands which make it totally convenient. For example, if you want to make a phone call, you could dial the number from the palm of your hands. The inventor also conducted a few other demonstrations to explain the device’s functions. The first was accessing information to assist him in purchasing products according to his preferences. Then, when he took out a newspaper, a video related to the article he was reading played on a blank surface. Furthermore, when he interacted with a student, words from the Internet, associated with him appeared on his t-shirt. He also displayed the current time by drawing a watch on his hand, and retrieved data about whether his flight’s been delayed or the gates have changed simply by scanning a boarding pass. In conclusion, this new technology will conveniently allow people to obtain pertinent data from the Web, to assist us in improving our lifestyles; we learn to make decisions economically and efficiently, be more organized, and have better time management skills.
