Advantages and Disadvantages of Using the Internet for Educational Purposes
Who am I? I am the youngest in a family of 7, as the youngest I have discovered that where my siblings fail, I am expected to succeed. For example, none of my siblings finished high school and made a lot of themselves, so they are hoping that I finish this course and do well, in a way that makes up for my other siblings failures. I have moved back and forth between WA and the NT for my whole life, I moved back to Darwin about a year ago as I found myself not getting anything from Perth. Since my move here I have settled into a productive lifestyle with my fiancé and I am motivated to do well in this course and have the freedom to choose any career I want if I do well.
I have had a various amount of previous educational experiences through high school, TAFE and other independent courses. After I quit half way through year 11, I enrolled in an Engineering course in TAFE in hopes of getting some valuable experience to enter a drafting career. Unfortunately I didn’t have any support so I got bored of it and I didn’t understand it very well so I didn’t complete the course. After I did that, I was doing some work, but I really felt like learning instead of working, so I attempted to learn the material from the TAFE course at home on my own, but I really need someone to explain to me how to understand all the facts, so i didn’t get very far. Since I met my partner, he encouraged me to partake in a course that will allow me to do a uni degree, so here I am, doing this TEP course. I have confidence that I will succeed in this course because I have more support this time and I am eager to prove my family wrong and do something amazing with my life.
I feel most confident about the computing and the language and learning aspects of this course, as I have a very high interest in both of these areas. I have a passion for writing, and I thoroughly enjoyed it in year 11 when we were getting into the more formal styles of essay writing. I also have a very high interest in

I have chosen to study history, business, sociology environmental science/ religious studies as an AS. I have chosen these courses because of the great deal of interest I have in them especially history and business, also because I have always been curious about how the business world works as it is such a significant thing in our lives.I find it incredibly fascinating to learn about what life was like then to what it is now, I enjoy seeing the progression or unfortunately at times regression. I have completed an online diploma course in my own time on The Rise of Fascism for enjoyment and to deepen my understanding of this significant area of history. I am 24 years old and married to my husband Paul we live in Maybole in a two bedroom cottage. I left school at 16 with standard grade level English, maths, history, French and music. My first job was in a nursing home it was then I realised how much I enjoyed working in care and caring for people. I worked in the nursing home for 2 years then left to be an activity’s co-ordinator in a day care centre in Prestwick where I would plan daily activity’s and outings for clients who came for respite day-care the centre sadly closed down after 3 years. I found a part time job in a local pub but I didn’t enjoy it as much as caring I worked in the pub for 2 years until I found a job working for a homecare company I enjoyed but found the hours unsociable it was then I decided to apply for college. I applied for N.C social care and was placed on the reserved list due to the course being full then a week after the course started I got a phone call to start. I attended college from September to june working threw my course studying and passed all my exams. I also attended a work placement at Hansel village respite cabin which I enjoys working with the clients as id never worked with adults with learning difficulties. I was offered a permanent job with Hansel after I left but sadly couldn’t take the job offer up as I had applied to do HNC and Hansel could only offer me 30 hours per week. Whilst doing my NC I enjoyed the subject mental health and decided then that I would like to become a…

    1. What did I do particularly well in this course, and why? Being in this course has stretched my thinking and my creative abilities past what I thought I knew or was capable of. Living in a world today that tells us that you can only be one thing and not the other makes us choose a side on something that we think we are good and stick to that even when we are capable of doing a broader array of other things. Having a heavily mathematical and scientific background, my creativity was not called to light in so many instances even though as a child, I was an art lover and loved to create things that other people may have viewed as crazy but was nonetheless proud of.…

Even though I did not expect my college course to drastically transform me, I have notice huge changes in myself in this one year course that I take the first step toward my dreams career life. Naturally, I always expected college to be a challenge; however, this has been the most challenging but also rewarding course I have ever seen before. My college history began when I came London in April 2015 to register YMCA hostel to find accommodation, I saw this college and then I registered as soon as I arrived my friend home. Two weeks later I did the college entrance assessment exams and then the college invited me for interview. I had no idea how to prepare for interview and exam as I was brand new to western society and educational curriculum. Luckily, I passed both the exam and interview and they sent me an invitation letter and gave appointment day to enrol in July 2015. I felt very happy and I promised for myself to succeed in higher mark. For me, this course is a significant to shape my life as a profession as…

One of the most important decisions of attending college is whether online study is best for you, whereas online classes are a more advantageous way for many people to attend college, there are also some negative aspects that must be considered. Many people today are choosing to further their education by taking online classes, as some people find that it is more convenient, some believe it offers a better learning environment, and lastly some are attracted to online study by the reduced cost and travel time. Some advantages of taking online classes are you can juggle your home, work, and educational responsibilities in a more convenient way, where scheduling out time for a traditional class in the middle of the day or in the evening can be challenging, yet online classes can be taken at your own pace and on your own time schedule. In addition, study can be done anywhere that a computer and internet are available (Elearning-Companion). Another advantage is that many students find online study to be a better learning environment for them because of the different learning styles and the array of learning activities that could be unavailable in traditional classrooms (Elearning-Companion). “Online learning may be more student-centered if it allows students the option to select learning materials that meet their level of knowledge and interest (Elearning-Companion).” A third advantage is that the cost and travel time is cut down considerably by not having to spend as much on gas and the time it takes going to and from classes. Thus, online study can be a much more effective way of furthering your education, although the decision can have a different outcome for every student, as there are also disadvantages to online study. Some disadvantages students may encounter with online study are that it is harder to stay…

As a thirty-one-year old husband, father-to-be, and professional, I have come to realize that I have many new challenges to face as I start back into school. Challenges I never had to consider ten years ago when I first attempted a degree. I face ever-growing obligations at work, a wife and very soon, a young child, and the motivation to complete a project I started ten years ago. I have overcome the first obstacle, however; I have overcome the guilt that I should have finished this degree many years ago.…

During my GCSEs I wasn’t sure what I wanted out of life. I chose to study French, Graphics and History. I enjoyed French the most and did quite well in it, however if I had concentrated more I could’ve done a lot better. I was also working in my dads’ café. I enjoyed working at the café a lot. It was hard at times to manage my time between School, working at the café, going to football practice and also making time to do homework and revision. In class I enjoyed myself a lot and got my work done fast so went on to do extra question or ‘bonus questions’. When I was in the classroom environment I felt more confidant in my work as I had the teacher to double check if I had any doubts but because I didn’t go over my work at home I feel it put me really behind .However having to juggle school, work, football and revision was very stressful and I didn’t do well as well I would have liked which put education in a negative light for me. I did consider at one point to stop my education after leaving school while I was at school because I didn’t believe I would be able to handle the pressure, however I knew that education is a very big part of my life and my family’s life as everyone has been to university in my family so I felt I had to go to college and further my education. Through this time my teachers were very helpful, I found it hard to ask for at first but when I did seek advice it was definitely the right choice. It made it clearer what I wanted in the long term and helped boost my confidence a bit in my work.…

Life is a journey whereby one is continually learning new things or improving what is already known. The year I have spent at University has marked an era of academic and social learning though from a different platform. Initially the journey has been marked with feelings of apprehension, anxiety, anticipation and sometimes confusion. In the succeeding account, I reflect on the past year at university and placement focusing on the knowledge and skills acquired as well as hitches encountered.…
