Advantages and Disadvantages of Technology.
In the last century many people did things by hand but nowadays more and more tasks have become automated. For example, many people have washing machines, clothes driers and dishwashers, so the amount of energy needed to wash and dry clothes and wash dishes is greatly reduced. As technology progresses, more and more of these tasks will be automatic, for example, vacuum cleaning or cutting the grass. In addition to this, improvements in technology have given us 24-hour a day entertainment from digital TV to video games. This means that there are fewer tasks to do, more time to do nothing and more opportunities to sit around and be entertained without moving very much.
As we can see, there are both advantages and disadvantages to this. I will deal with the advantages firstly. I think, there are at least two positive effects of this. First of all, we don't need to do repetitive and uninteresting job like washing-up and this gives us more time to do other things. What we do with this time depends upon the individual. Secondly, for people, who are less able to do these jobs, like elderly or disabled people, these machines are a great help. Future developments may be able to help them even more. I think, this is the most positive side of technology.
Now I will look at the disadvantages. As I mentioned, it is up to the individual what they do with this extra time. Unfortunately, instead of doing everyday tasks people tend to watch television or play video games. Furthermore, television companies encourage us to watch as much TV as possible. this can lead to an inactive lifestyle and people are becoming overweight and unhealthy.
In conclusion, the positive side is that because machines and automation do the things we do not like doing we gain more time to do other things, and people who cannot do certain things are able to do them with the help of technology. However, on the negative side we lose the daily activity involved in washing-up, vacuum cleaning and so on, and

Another reason why machines should be filling jobs is the economic benefit it has. The lower cost of machine labor causes a series of events that include lowering competitive prices, increase supply, and in theory, leads to stimulation of the economy. If machines were to replace the common working man, that would average to be 50,000 more dollars to be spread to other workers or fund charitable organizations. Although it appears that job opportunities are declining due to the appearance of new machinery, these machines are only changing the makeup of the job…

It makes tasks to easy to accomplish. There is no more pride in a job well done. No overwhelming feel of accomplishment because we didn’t really even complete anything. We watched a machine do it. Staying in shape was not necessarily a chore either. Going to work and doing your job was exercise. You were moving around all day, not just standing there. You should not hate technology though. It is not the whole problem. People are the problem really, we need to realize not to rely on technology for everything.…

During this relaxed state, it’s easy for someone to adopt this life style. Energy decreases, motivation drops, and impatience is at all time high. Because of this, people have a fallen into unhealthy habits. For example, they would go to a fast food restaurant because they don’t want to cook. Entertainment has also affected this unhealthy lifestyle. Children and adults find entertainment in simply sitting down and watching TV. The television has become a tool for parents to get away from their loud rambunctious children. The TV has often been referred to as a babysitter. Rather than allow their children to play outside, parents have made their children sedentary by watching the television. These kids become accustomed to the easy, quick entertainment and that’s what they want to do. As these kids grow, they likely won’t ever grow out of this need of instant gratification. Look at today’s youth. Such as teenagers who have been raised on instant entertainment, most can’t live without their cell phones, internet, TV, or handheld gaming devices. They feel that everything will be boring and unlivable without those devises. So you’re left with “Less than 3 in 10 high school students get at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day” (CDC). This is not their fault. These children have been raised to rely on these outside tools. Even adults who are attached to their phones were raised watching TV, playing less outside, and getting satisfaction as fast as they can. Looking at previous generations, you can see the differences between them. Most would prefer to do hands on work, while this generation would much rather just sit and do less. Even if the phones, internet, and TVs were removed, it would take time for people to shift their attitudes to become more active. If offered to an average American, they would not choose to have all of those things taken away. The ease of it all would vanish, and they…

If we did take it as far as building Robots, would it benefit our world or hinder it? How many jobs do you think have been lost due to the development in technology? Yet we can argue that jobs have been created too. The truth is that people have now become a liability. People make mistakes, machines do not. People get tired and cranky, machines do not.
