1. My Personal Letter

I am Badette and was born in Indonesia in 1976.   My place of birth is the small village of Bamban, which is just outside Medan on the island of Sumatra.   I spent the first 20 years of my life in my country.   I went to school in Medan and stayed on beyond the normal school leaving age to complete my SMA / A level examinations.

After school I moved to Penang in Malaysia to find work.   There are a lot of electronics factories in Penang and it is less than one hour’s flight from Medan so it is quite common for Indonesian girls to move there and work on the production line making computer or other electronic components.

I worked in four factories in Penang making printed circuit boards (PCBs).   My longest single employment was with Sumitomo Sdn Bhd, where I was promoted to supervisor in the Inspection Department.   I held this position for almost six years and particularly enjoyed it.   I was responsible for the final quality of products made for Motorola, Toshiba and NEC and the work of...
