Who Causes Collisions?

There are many different reasons why people always get in car accidents. Here are some very common attributes of people who usually get in car crashes and some simple solutions to stop bad habits. Inexperience There are many inexperienced drives who are out on the streets. Inexperience can cause collisions because usually the driver either does not understand the rules and regulations of the road, or they panic in unusual situations. The definition of inexperienced is “ Lacking physical experience or training”. If you are an inexperienced driver you should always be cautious on the road and know what your doing. Don't go to fast if you know you are not capable is safely controlling your vehicle at high speeds. If you know your inexperienced, try driving with a friend or someone who can help/ instruct you on the way.

Inattention There are so many distractions that can lead to inattentive driving. I have only ever been in one car accident and I'm pretty sure it was mostly because of inattention. Our car was rear ended by a young man. I know that he was not paying attention because when the police showed up he said that he was looking down at his radio adjusting the channels. Inattention can cause serious accidents because the driver is is paying little to no attention on the road. How are you supposed to drive without paying attention? Some good habits to start considering if you know you are easily distracted are, putting electronic devices such as cell phone and I-pods away from your reach. You could also try actually paying attention to the road and maybe begin to understand how the traffic work in what area and how to avoid bad driving conditions.

Inconsideration Being inconsiderate is probably one of most impolite thing to do. Many drivers are usually inconsiderate to other drivers needs and conditions. They dint understand what the other driver is experiencing and usually assume that

A lot can happen when a driver is distracted. For example, there is a significant increase in driving with no hands on the wheel, not watching the road, sudden braking and wandering into other lanes which can result in lack of focus on the road, increase the chances of collisions and a hazard to pedestrians, yourself and other road users. I personally witnessed drivers on an everyday basis being distracted while driving on the road. For example, many would be texting or making a phone call, some will be looking somewhere else instead of focusing on the road ahead, and eating or drinking while one hand is on the steering wheel. All of these bad habits are unsafe and could be dangerous and contribute to why we have so many unnecessary accidents on the road…

Another reason that teens die in car crashes is from the lack of wearing a seatbelt while in the car. In 2007, when polled, drivers between the ages of fifteen and twenty said that they only wore a seatbelt ten percent of the time when driving with other people. For people between the ages of fifteen and twenty years old, this is not only a death wish, but also illegal in most states. You will most likely be killed in a car crash if you are without a seatbelt, and you will most definitely be ticketed if you are found not wearing your seatbelt in a state that requires it. It doesn’t take that much effort just to strap yourself into a car with a convenient seatbelt, and it can save your life! I have made it a habit to always buckle up when in a car.…

The number one source of driver inattention is use of a cell phone. Drivers that text or talk on cell phones while driving are four times more likely to get into crashes serious enough to injure themselves (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). My first and only wreck so far, since I receiving my license a year ago, was caused because of texting while driving. Luckily I wasn’t going very fast, so no one was hurt and there was very little damage; however, it definitely scared me, and I now realize how dangerous it really is. Texting while driving should be against the law because it can be very hazardous and lead to regretful…

This article is a great source for information on how there are inside and outside distractions that can take place while driving and how the driver may be affected by these distractions. Vision is very important when driving and having both eyes on the road help us scan the road and see everything that is going on. A distraction in the car or out of the car may not take all of our attention but it does stop the ability to scan the road. This is something that needs to be done to be able to drive…
