I used juxtaposing adjectives to word to provide a clear differentiation between Sleepy and Snow White. These adjectives lead to the shock brought on by the word. The purpose of a complex sentence is to depreciate one clause in order to make the other one more prominent. For this reason, I intentionally placed the word in the independent clause. Also, by getting Snow White to drive Sleepy into action, the effect of the word is clearly demonstrated.…

Another important part of descriptive writing is the use of strong adjectives. A great example of this can be found in the third paragraph, “thin black scale of soil.” These adjectives are more powerful than just saying “dark dirt.” Consequently, the description the author choose to use is much more effective at creating a clear image.…

When searching my items on Ebay and AllMyLife I tended to see a mix of both subjective and objective descriptions. For false teeth, the description on AllMyLife was more objective with the showing of a more gruesome picture and description about why they didn't need them anymore. On Ebay, it was more subjective nothing personal just a straight forward, description of the item. The visuals on both had a very big part on shaping their descriptions, with one being more clean it was more subjective and with the other dirty and having a very objective description. In addition with that, it seemed each ad had a goal of reaching a specific type of audience. In fact the more objective description was trying to reach more to someone who could relate and know where the product was coming from. While on the other hand, the subjective was not trying to relate or tell where it was coming from just trying to sell the product straight to the consumer to meet their needs.…

Belonging can be defined in many ways as there is no exact meaning, though belonging can be defined as a sense of enlightenment felt when an individual gains an understanding of themselves in relation to others and the world around them. The feeling of belonging does depend on a strong relationship between people that has been developed over a period of time either short or long. In the film ‘strictly ballroom’ the director Baz Luhrmann clearly shows how the protagonist’s develop a sense of acceptance towards each other as the film progresses and this allows their relationship to strengthen over time. Also in the poem ‘wind and window flower’ written by Robert Frost the theme of relationships and depicts the idea of unrequited love.…

A journey is when one has experienced a dramatic transition in their life, which as a direct result has changed them physically, mentally or emotionally. Throughout Peter Skrzynecki’s poetry, he expresses all types of journeys during his childhood and how he, through very few words in his poems, dealt emotionally with these alterations. In the poems “Crossing the Red Sea”, “Immigrants at Central Station” and “Leaving Home” Skrzynecki explores the use of poetic techniques through his poems such as metaphors, repetition, and similes giving the reader a sense of the challenges he encountered or was about to encounter. In my related text, “Castaway” by Robert Zemeckis it discovers the difficulty of sticking to your physical journey while balancing the inner struggle (journey). It also shows how Tom Hanks (Chuck Noland) deals with the different obstacles that he is to face on the island alone through the use of a variety of film techniques.…

It was 6 years ago when I began to really appreciate the little things. It was 6 years ago when my life changed forever. I was an active, reckless, twelve year old girl in the seventh grade. I spent most of my free time playing soccer, or riding my purple bike around the thin, uneven roads of Union, Missouri. I was enrolled in school at Union Middle School, where my unfortunate life changing accident took place.…
