Additional meaning behind the color of the Wallpaper
Charlotte Perkins Gilman “The Yellow Wallpaper”

The Room itself represents the author’s unconscious protective cell that has encased her mind, but the color a damp dreary color of yellow would make any one being kept in a room with little to no visitor a little crazy. It not till later in the story at you understands why Jane would hate the color. But know that yellow shines with optimism, enlightenment, and happiness. Shades of golden yellow carry the promise of a positive future. Yellow will advance from surrounding colors and instill optimism and energy, as well as spark creative thoughts. Which is why when is she in her cell or better known as her room she feels like writing. So Her Husband who really doesn’t seem to really love her because he hardly ever visit her and is too busy with other people. So she is kept lock up in the room because her husband who feels that this type of treatment would help her out, then at the end we find out that it really didn’t work and she is almost like an animal. So the symbolic color of yellow in this story would be as the following, Yellow signifies as mourning here she lost every one she every been with including her baby which in fact they are not really dead they are not allowed to be around her. Plus the yellow also was once wore by executioners, The executioner would be the room cause it cut her off of the world outside. Also yellow was once meant to be that of cowards just like the movie The wizard of Oz the cowardly lion was yellow this would be Jane she coward to her husband...
