Addictions are when people get involved with a certain substance or activity that over time the involvement becomes more of a necessity, and a huge part of their life. A substance or activity becomes an addiction when the person feels they need it to be normal, or to fit in. Addictions can be very dangerous, not only in the sense that the substance or activity itself is dangerous, but in the sense that the addiction can take away from real necessities, particularly things to do with health.   For example; someone who has an addiction to video games will do almost nothing but play video games. That means the addiction will replace exercise, eating healthy, and possibly even cause lack of sleep.
There are so many addictions in our world today, the most common ones being tobacco, drugs, alcohol, and gambling. These addictions probably started out as just being bad habits, or just an experiment, but eventually went out of control, taking over people`s lives.   Other addictions vary from food addictions, to adrenaline addictions, to facebook addictions, in the end just creating a wide variety of things for people to get hooked on.
It is important for us to find ways to reduce these addictions, and computer technology is going to be a huge part in that. It has become so popular that there are already tons of computer associated addictions. That’s why it makes sense to use that technology to stop it. There are so many things we could do with this technology and a lot more people would be interested in the subject if it took part in it. We need to raise awareness throughout our society, especially in high schools, because the students of today will grow up to be the decision makers of the future. The students should be informed of the dangers of addictions, to avoid them picking from picking them up.
