Activity 2 And 3

Finals Activity 2: Channeling
Introduction
On February 2, 2015, C/M Almacen discussed about channeling. He showed us the famous channel in the world the Istanbul, Turkey. He shared his experiences in navigating in this channel. He taught us the Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS). It has the north bound and south bound just like the road in land. Counter flowing is not allowed also in narrow channeling. When joining the Traffic Separation Scheme you must use small angle and when crossing the Traffic Separation Scheme you must use large angle. He also asked what contour is and no one answered. Contour is the line with equal depth. He also taught us that variation of compass are needed for correcting the compass error.

Actual Activity The activity for our group is to make the ship go outside from Black sea to the ocean. At first we have error because we turned our ship into the wrong direction making it aground. C/M Almacen restarted the activity so we can improve our work. Each of us have task to accomplish some are in the radar, some are in ECDIS and some are in rudder. We find it quite hard because the current and strong and our ship were being carried away. We surpassed many close encounters, crossing situation and crossing the traffic separation scheme. At the end of the activity, we brought the ship into safe area and exit the traffic separation scheme. Our grade at the end of the activity is 92 percent making us the highest compare to the other group.

Learning I have learned from this activity that narrow channeling is not that easy at first but if you learned how to maneuver the ship considering the current you can bring the ship safe to its destination. I have also that you must not panic during the close encounter situation and crossing situation but instead apply the rules of the road to overcome the problem. And lastly, I learned that experiences are the best teacher because on

According to a study on which brands of popcorn yields the most popcorn by Sean Boyd (2010) “The Jolly Time popcorn had the lowest amount of un-popped kernels”. But another researcher Ben Popken (2008) Which popcorn pops the most, said, “ACTII was the winner.” Since there are many experiments with different results of the most popped kernels we will chose just one name brand at the local store and keep the brand name constant for this experiment. The name brand of popcorn is not the independent variable so we will use a random store bought popcorn for this experiment. Both of these experiments are similar to each other. They are testing the hypothesis on which brand name produces the least amount of un-popped kernels. In this current…

The action potential is an impulse of electrical activity. Action potential occurs when a neuron sends messages electrochemically down an axon called a nerve impulse. When a neuron is not stimulated or inactive, it is at resting potential. When a neuron is at rest, the electrical charge on the inside of the neuron is negative while the electrical charge on the outside of the neuron is positive. The resting membrane potential of a neuron is about -70 mV (mV = millivolts). At rest, the outside of a neuron contains an excess of sodium ions (Na+) while the inside of a neuron contains an excess of potassium ions (K+).) At rest, potassium ions (K+) can cross through the cell membrane easily while sodium ions (Na+) have a more difficult time crossing. When a stimulus reaches a resting potential of a neuron it causes gated ion channels to open allowing the sodium ions (Na+) that was on the outside of the membrane to go into the cell. Sodium has a positive charge, which makes the neuron become more positive and depolarized. As depolarization reaches threshold of -55mV, the action potential is triggered and sodium ions (Na+) rush into the cell. If the neuron does not reach this critical threshold, then no action potential will fire. It takes longer for potassium channels to open. When they do open, potassium (K+) rushes out of the cell, reversing the depolarization. Also at this time, sodium channels (Na+) is exiting the cell and starting to close. This causes the action potential to go back toward -70 mV, which is called repolarization. When the action potential goes past -70 mV hyperpolarization occurs because the potassium channels stay open. Gradually, the ion concentrations go back to resting levels and the cell returns to -70 mV.…

The progressions of an action chart are operations, particularly exercises from the state model. The motivation behind an action chart is to demonstrate the progressions inside an intricate procedure and the sequencing requirements among them. A few exercises run perpetually until an outside occasion interferes with them, yet most exercises inevitably finish their work and end themselves [7].…

There are practically two ways of defining flow or volume on a road. One is defined as the number of vehicles that pass a point on a highway or a given lane or direction of a highway during a specific time interval. In second method the measurement is carried out by counting the number of vehicles, nt, passing a particular point in one lane in a defined time period T. The flow Q expressed in vehicles/hour is given by…
