Acid Rain is a major threat to our environment. It considers being a main issue in the developing countries of Eastern Europe such as Czech Republic, Germany, and Poland. Acid Rain is a form of air pollution that comes from the use of gasoline and diesel, fossil-fuel-fired electric power plants, industrial bodies, and residential furnaces by human beings. It also comes from natural hazards such as smoke from forest fires and volcanic eruptions. Acid Rain is a major cause of deforestation, and a risk to humans’ health in Czech Republic because of the base of its economy. This essay will focus on the causes, the effects, and the solutions to the acid rain problem that is facing the Czech Republic and its citizens. First of all, Czech Republic is a landlocked country that used to be part of the Czechoslovakia, in which was emerged and formed from Austro-Hungarian Empire by Czech and Slovaks following World War I. Geographically speaking, Czech Republic is located in the Central Europe, southeast of Germany with temperate; cool summers; cold, cloudy, and humid winters. Czech Republic has few natural resources such as graphite, timber, kaolin, clay, and hard/soft coal (Czech Republic). Furthermore, Czech Republic’s economy is based on some of the major causes of “acid rain” which are land mines, melting minerals, heavy industries, chemicals, and building materials production. All these required coal in their process making. The fact that coal contains high percentage of sulfur dioxide is the main reason why Czech Republic is suffering from “acid rain.” For example, all of the factories and power plants in Czech Republic use only coal as burning fuel. As a result, emit smoke from these industries and the process of making electricity contributes to “acid rain” and has negative impact on the country’s environment. In general, “acid rain” is one of the main concerns for the use of ores. Due to the high usage of coal, the Czech Republic is now facing the...
