The overall objectives of Nike are to provide high quality athletic gear for enthused athletes, while stimulating the world and bettering the economy. Nike has come up with a foundation which it prides itself in that helps women in third world countries and gives them the opportunity to change their lives. Nike believes in the power of unleashing human potential – on the field, on the court, and in life. At the Nike Foundation, we take the power of potential to a new playing field to combat one of the most pressing issues of our time: global poverty. Within their company as a whole they incorporate diversity and believe this is a big part to their success. “Diversity and inclusion is fundamental to Nike’s performance. It’s what makes us better. It’s what makes us smarter. It helps our business grow and helps us connect with customers,” stated Gina Warren (VP of global diversity). To accomplish this mission, the D&I team:
* Shares the fundamentals of diversity and inclusion to build awareness and understanding
* Uses diversity and inclusion to inspire new ideas
* Encourages connections between unlikely players
A few business risks that I could foresee Nike experiencing would be other innovative company’s such as Under Armour stepping in. With other companies constantly developing new products it causes stress on Nike to stay ahead of the game. Also I believe if sales were to drop and focus turn away from Nike, the foundation would begin to fall as well. If the foundation fail then so would Nike’s focus on helping out undeveloped countries.
According to Nike behind a strong company are strong leaders, in the next paragraph I will discuss the executives of the company. Philip Knight is the chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Knight, 73, a director since 1968, is Chairman of the Board of Directors of NIKE.
