Handbook Descriptor It is basically a dual study of Financial Accounting and Management Accounting looking in depth at the key techniques required by the profession. The module is designed to lead to the achievement of the following Learning Outcomes: Identify and describe the accounting requirements of various types of business organisations. Evaluate the context in which accounting can be operating including the social environment, the accountancy profession, business, the not-for-profit sector and capital markets. Describe, adopt and apply the main current technical language and practices and some of the alternate technical languages. Record, summarise and analyse business transactions and other economic events in accordance with normal practice. Evaluate contemporary theories and empirical evidence concerning financial management, risk and the basic operations of capital markets. Prepare final accounts for typical organisations in 'good form'. Interpret a set of final accounts draw appropriate conclusions and make responsible recommendations. Evaluate, select and apply various management accounting techniques currently in common usage. Appraise and apply various Capital Investment Appraisal Techniques to select and evaluate capital projects. Prepare and comment on Budget preparation process within various organisations. Collect, analyse and present appropriate accounting information to assist managers in making 'good' business decisions.
