Accident: Automobile and Rough Asphalt Road
The memories left imprints that I can never forget in my life. I still go there sometimes in my dreams, seeing my mind’s eyes every single detail, sound and smell that I can still clearly remember. That wasa close to death encounter. The morning was cool and resplendent. I was on just another typical drive to school despite I was late.Because of the belated departure, I went fast, maybe too fast. It was no big deal I am driving fast asthat was my usual route to school. I was not paying much attention to the road. Suddenly a car swerved into my path and I had to take evasive action to avoid collision. Then, from the corner of myeyes, the lamp post was approaching fast.I slammed my foot down on the pedal attempting to salvage the situation with an emergency break butI failed. The tyres blazed the rough asphalt road when it screeched with a high-pitched sickeningsound piercing the quiet surrounding. With my eyes sealed tight, I could feel my body float off theseat. Then, I heard the huge earthshaking thump.I received a violent jolt and my body hit the steering wheel and the windscreen. I could hear the crashof metal being twisted at the moment of impact before the engine died to lay the car in a heap of fume.In the blink of an eye, the world was turned upside down. When I finally got myself together, I waslying about 20 feet from the wreckage. I know, I was thrown out of the car with a terrific force. How I landed on the ground I could not definitely say. I felt the tremendous shock. I could feel myheart beating rapidly. I did not know the extent of injuries except that I could feel pain here and there. The throbbing pain was indescribable. Before my eyes were losing the power of holding a purposefulsteady gaze, I could see shards of shattered windscreen glinted under the sultry sun. Those bloodstained ones gleamed like rubies. I made a vain attempt to get up. I felt I could not.In the meantime, people gathered around, and there was usual fuss and excitement with a little

I had a neck brace around my neck and IV’s stuck all in my arms. I started to panic, I was lost, confused and scared. My best friend was there in the ambulance trying to calm me down. But still, all I could think about was the reaction of my parents when they found out what happened. Once we got to the hospital, the paramedics took me to Emergency Care. The doctors ran many tests on me: MRI’s, CAT Scans, and X-Rays, whatever test you can name – they ran on me. As I waited for my results, the doctors came in and explained to me what happened. An intoxicated driver with a gun ran the red light and hit me in a head on collision. The driver not only totaled my mother’s car but also totaled his own car too. The good thing was that he was okay. I didn’t know what to be happier about; the fact that the other driver was fine or that the accident was not my fault. Selfish right? But I’m sure if you were me at the time, you would think the same thing.…

I was first to arrive at the wreckage. It was a head on collision caused by a dust storm. My brother had been slowing down when the Ford truck appeared out of nowhere sitting in the middle of the road. The first thing I noticed was that my brother’s girlfriend was hobbling around with one foot twisted a sick way. She was walking on her ankle and not her foot at all, I had come to realize as I dragged her away from my brother and into my truck. I had to do that because my brother was starting to panic and I couldn’t let him go into shock. I noticed blood on the airbags when I first glanced at the wreckage but thought nothing of it. As soon as she was safe I ran to my brother and he said calmly, “Mac I’m stuck, it’s bad, it’s real bad.”…

As a young girl, I experienced what at the time I thought was the end of the world. Yes, I was a little bit of a drama queen. At the age of eleven, and on my way to a ballet recital a woman who was careless pulled under an awning in a non-parking zone in front of The Girls Club. I was running to catch up with my group. I looked left and right and proceeded to walk under the awing to the parking lot across from the building. From the corner of my eye’s I saw a white car pull up in front of me very fast. The momentum of the car pulling up that close almost made me roller over the hood. I put both my hands on the car, and pushed my self away. Stepping back on my right foot, my left foot caught under the tire. I screamed in pain, and yelled at the women to move her car.…

The sky was nice and clear. It wasn’t too hot or too cold. It was perfect. It was a typical third grade day. My friends and I were in recess, goofing around, having fun. We sat on the benches and joked around. Next thing I knew my friend was on my back and I was carrying him around. Not aware of my surroundings, I tripped over a bench, closed my eyes, braced for impact, and fell face first into the dirt. I got up feeling dazed and the first thing I hear is a scream. Confused, I looked over to my friend and her face was a mixture of scared and shocked. I saw friends run to the restroom to get me paper towels, but others told me to go to the office. As I walked to the office, I began to feel pain in my lip. I walked into the office speechless.…

As I got my vision back, I saw that it was red, blood. I thought to myself, I was shocked with horror, dozens and dozens of bodies deposited on the ground, every single one dead. The smell of the dead gave me an urge to gag, the sight of blood made me feel dizzy. I steadily walked back to the window and launched myself over, landing on my back. I didn't feel as much pain, as I already felt enough.…

I blinked, trying to gain focus on where I was. At the moment all I could make out were blurry outlines of shapes and figures. When my vision finally cleared I saw that I was in a hospital room. I blinked, confused. Why was I here? All of a sudden I was hit by a whirlwind of memories. A crash. Sirens. My mom screaming my name. An awful pain in my left leg...my leg! I tried to kick back the sheets to see what happened, but found that I couldn’t move my left leg. My dad must have seen me stir because he came over to the side of my bed and took my hand. I was about to ask him what happened when I noticed he had tears in his eyes. My throat constricted, why was he crying? What he said next will haunt me for the rest of my life: “It’s gone, Melanie.”…

I was speechless, couldn’t think, couldn’t feel. That night was like drowning in ice, with both the coldness of it and the numbing pain that was my thoughts. The only thing I knew was get in the car and wait. Wait for what seems like years. The car ride was like watching yourself slowly die. Every bump, every nook in the rode was nauseating. Watching the buildings pass by had a calming effect, like a stress ball. My mind was a formula 1 car… racing. I didn’t know if my thoughts would crash and stress me out even more but I’m glad they didn’t. Although the car ride was like driving with the devil by my side I made it to the hospital with my thoughts still going.…

My body laid stiff as board. I didn’t feel pain just my back pressed against the hard concrete cement. I yelled and screamed for him, but I couldn’t move. Then I pass out. I woke up to unbearable pain as the freezing cold air from the ambulance pieced my open wounds. The screams of horror and torture fill the cavity of the ambulance as I begged for anything to make the pain stop. I pass out again. Suddenly, I woke up with a thin unmistakable white hospital sheet laid over my body up to my neck. The pain seems to be absent at the moment. There was an unpleasant present on my right hand which accounted for my comfort. In the middle of all the commotion I was able to stop a male nurse and ask him about the condition of my boyfriend.…

I was driving on the fast lane with a speed around seventy miles per hour while I was checking my GPS with one hand and the other on the wheel. I checked my right hand mirror and suddenly I felt a car was approaching toward the right side of my car. With a sudden shiver, my first reaction was to pull my wheel toward the left side, so I can avoid my car from crashing. At the same moment, I wasn’t able to completely control my car and it went out of control. I was horrified and scared. I realized that things were getting real, and there’s a chance that I am going to die. While having these horrible thoughts, my car started to spin. After three continuous spins, my car finally stopped and crashed into the bump. Rapidly turning my head, I saw smoke coming out of the back of my car and I was frightened.
