LASERS AND ITS APPLICATIONS
Abstract:
A laser is an optical device that emits coherent light (electromagnetic radiation). The term 'laser' is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Typically, lasers are thought of as emitting light in a narrow, low-divergence beam, with a narrow wavelength spectrum ('monochromatic' light). Lasers need not have either characteristic, however, it is the coherence of the laser's output that is distinctive. Most other light sources emit incoherent light, which has a phase that varies randomly with time and position. The first working laser was demonstrated on May 16, 1960 by Theodore Maiman at Hughes Research Laboratories. Since then, lasers have become a multi-billion industry. By far the largest single application of lasers is in optical storage devices such as compact disc and DVD players, in which a semiconductor laser less than a millimeter wide scans the surface of the disc. The second largest application is fiber-optic communication. Other common applications of lasers are bar code readers, laser printers and laser pointers. In science, lasers are used for many applications. One of the more common is laser spectroscopy, which typically takes advantage of the laser's well-defined

There are three different major types of spectroscopy techniques covered in our practical, which includes Ultraviolet-Visible Light Spectroscopy, Infrared Spectroscopy and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy & Atomic Emission Spectroscopy. The use of spectrophotometry in the analysis of chemicals quantitatively and qualitatively is common, since they’re readily available and generally easy to operate, at the same time giving fairly accurate and consistent results. The choice of instrument depends on the wavelength region of choice, which in turn depends on the nature of analyte, either they are coloured or can be changed into coloured derivatives; whether they contains functional group that absorbs light in the UV or Infrared region; or even other absorbing species that depends on the analyte present in the same phase.…

Imagining throwing my freshly bought food into this rank garbage can, makes every part of me twist; I’d rather throw my coffee into this teacher’s face, but holding myself back from what is so tempting, I bite my lip, shed a tear and unwilling force myself to submit to this irritating and unnecessary suggestion. Waste of money, waste of time. Teacher’s like this have a cold-stone heart, if any heart at all and need to find a new time and place to take out their personal life on something else.…

To start off, since the early ancient civilizations the ray of light was believed to possess mystical and magical powers. The early people believe a ray of light was a message from God or it could heal people. Later on an advancement to light was made by scientists. This advancement was the laser. Lasers were used a lot about six decades from the advancement. The lasers are an important part of scientific research, industry, and medicine. In medicine lasers…
