Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president and still is considered to be America’s greatest hero. From his remarkable impact on our nation to his unique appeal, Lincoln’s legendary story of the rise from humble beginnings landed him to achieve the highest office in the land. Lincoln’s distinctively human and humane personality and historical role as savior of the Union and Emancipator of the slaves creates a legacy that endures. With his flow of eloquence in democracy and the importance of saving a worthy Union embodied the idea of self-government that all nations strive to achieve. In the Gettysburg Address, he dedicated the principles of liberty and equality for all. In this, he invoked the foundations of human equality contained in the Declaration of Independence and connected the sacrifices of the Civil War with the desire for “a new birth of freedom”, as well as the all-important preservation of the Union created in the 1776 and its ideals of self-government.
Lincoln stressed on the harmony between the early settlers and Native Americans in the early years. He highlighted the fact that liberty and equality were the core components for the emancipation of America; He urged the common man and politician to consider the lives lost in the attempt to save the nation from colonization, and pay tribute to the unsung heroes. He emphasized on the fact that the Gettysburg Address may be forgotten in time, but not the soldiers who willingly laid down their lives. Lincoln urged the gathering to up the cause of freedom and complete the task at hand, to usher the government of people, by the people, for the people.
