About my hometown / What is special about your city?
I was born and brought up in Mumbai. It is located in the state of Maharashtra, on the west coast of India. It was previously known as Bombay. The word Mumbai is derived from the word Mumba which is the name of goddess Kali. There is a big temple of Goddess Mumbadevi in south Mumbai. Mumbai is financial and commercial capital of India. It is one of the largest cities in the world. The city has largest and busiest port handling India’s foreign trade and major international airport. India’s largest Stock Exchange which ranks as the 10th largest in the world, is situated in Mumbai. It is the house of India’s bollywood film industry. The total population of Mumbai is around 15 Million and it is still growing. I feel, Mumbai is a city of Dreams, drama, food, life, economy, terror attacks and never say die attitude. It is known for its extreme standards of living and fast paced life. Most of Mumbai’s population speak Marathi Language. But English is also widely used, especially in professional circles. Most of the people in Mumbai are migrants from other states, who come here in search of jobs. Mumbai provides many opportunities to realize one's dreams. It's film industry "Bollywood" also draws a number of youths to this city. Being a major financial center, People from all over the world come here for business opportunities. This has made Mumbai a major International city.  Climate

Mumbai has a tropical climate. It experiences hot and humid weather during March to May. Monsoon begins in early June and rain is experienced until October. Following monsoon weather becomes cooler in late November. Winters in Mumbai are very pleasant with temperature 20-23 degree Celsius during the day. Nights can be little chilly.

People
The city is truly cosmopolitan, and people of every religion and region of the world can be found there. People are helpful and friendly. Almost half the population is Hindu and other...
