My Opinion
I feel like that abortions should not being legalized. Everybody should get a chance at life. By getting abortion you are taking away a life, you are taking away what could have been a person and you just ended their life before it even really got to start you didn’t even give them a chance. I think if you don’t want the baby or you’re not financially secure don’t get an abortion, you should put the baby up for adoption. By doing that you are still giving the baby a chance to live its own life.

Abortion is defined as the ending of pregnancy by removing a fetus or embryo from the womb before it can survive on its own. It can also be defined as the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy or the act of ending an unwanted pregnancy. Abortion itself is the most difficult and controversial moral issue to consider. The arguments that arise from this issue is life and death though the uncertainty of complication makes it difficult. The debate over abortion can be critical. Usually there are two voice of reason for this difficult topic: Pro-life and Pro-choice. Imagine a young child at the playground, slipping down a slide, swinging on the monkey bars, and laughing with glee. When a mother decides to get an abortion, that entire image goes away with a blink of an eye. What that mother might not know is her child might be the next person to cure cancer or be the greatest movie star of all time. The public is divided on this issue and they do not know if one should be pro-life or pro-choice. People that believe in pro-choice think the decision should be up to the mother. It is the mother’s body and she should have the right to decide what happens to it. However, every life matters and the child should not be in the cross fire of the mother’s decision. Abortion violates the child’s right to live and…

The issue of abortion is by far, one of the most controversial topics in American History and everyone seems to have an opinion on the topic. Although there are many sides to the topic, the issue has divided the majority of people to the two extreme views of the topic --Pro-choice Vs. Pro-life. We can see the main arguments of each side just by analyzing the titles given to the two sides. Those who are pro-life believe that they are in fact Pro-Life and that abortion is murder. Those who are pro-choice believe that they are Pro-choice and that outlawing abortion would take the women's freedom to make a choice about her own body. Feelings and emotions about such an issue are very powerful and it has been the case that both sides will go to extremes to defend what they believe in. Such was the case Rosalie and Hector Zevallos, owners of an abortion clinic who were kidnapped and threatened with their lives, if they would not close down their clinic. (Glover, CC, 22)…

Abortion can be considered as murder, as the baby has a heartbeat and is a living creature. “At conception, we have a human organism, a human being. We do not have a baboon organism or a chimpanzee organism or an elephant organism” (Pasquini 5). This is killing an innocent living human without it having committed any crime. The idea of legalizing a process in which a baby has to pay for the mother’s mistake or be punished for simply being alive is one that is hard to fit into the mind of many. The baby shouldn’t be the one to be blamed for irresponsibility. Normally when a human life is taken from them, severe punishment is enforced and the result can even be death of the person who committed the murder. Abortion should be no different because the baby is as much as a human as anyone else on…

The Bible does not discern between an infant and a fetus, therefore. There are many scripture quotations from the Bible that are relevant to the topic of abortion, for example, Jeremiah 1:5. God is speaking to the young boy Jeremiah in this scripture. He speaks of knowing the boy before he was formed in the womb (www.saintaquinas.com/mortal_sin.html). It is clear we have a soul before conception has taken place in this scripture. God clearly values us as human beings at the time of conception. The implication is that we should also value fetuses as human beings with souls. The sixth commandment (Exodus 20:13) makes killing a sin. Abortion is murder since we are valued as human beings while we are still in the womb. Abortion is therefore not only a sin but a mortal sin. St. John differentiates between a venial sin and a mortal sin in John 5:16-17. All sin is an offense to God, however, some sins are graver than others. It is, for instance, a graver sin to murder someone than to lie to someone. A venial sin still offends God and should be avoided because if we continue to sin in this way it can lead to mortal sin. In this passage John tells us if we commit a venial sin to pray, essentially asking for forgiveness. Jesus warns us that we will not be allowed into the kingdom of heaven if we commit a mortal sin, we will burn. A mortal sin must meet three criteria:…

"One method of destroying a concept is by diluting its meaning. Observe that by ascribing rights to the unborn, i.e., the nonliving, the anti-abortionists obliterate the rights of the living"(Rand). The meaning behind this statement is powerful and the speaker is trying to surface the need for concern of the living when regarding abortion. Although the nonliving should be considered when contemplating an abortion, the primary focus should be on the mother. Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy and is becoming an increasingly volatile issue; a topic that almost everybody has a stance on. Abortion opponents or “Pro-lifers” believe that the fetus is a human being at the moment of conception, and abortion therefore is murder. Those against abortion also agree that the government should have control over a women’s body and forbid her to have abortion. On the flip side, “Pro-choicers” argue that the fetus is only a potential child, and not a human until the moment the child can survive on its own. So, the rights of the self-sustaining, living, mother overpower the rights of the dependent fetus. Abortion should be an available option to women throughout the United States. Especially since in some cases it’s an option that separates life and death.…

Few issues have embodied such controversy as abortion has. The various people involved in the abortion debate not only have strong beliefs, but each group has a self appeal that clearly reflects what they believe to be the essential issues. The abortion supporters see individual choice as central to the debate: If a woman cannot choose to terminate an unwanted pregnancy, a condition which affects her body and possibly her entire life, then she has lost one of her most basic human rights. These issues of abortion believe that while a fetus is a potential life, its life cannot be placed on the same level with that of a woman. On the other side, the anti-abortionist argue that the fetus is human and therefore given the same human rights as the mother. They believe that when a society legalizes abortion, it is sanctioning murder.…

The argument of abortion is one of growing concern in our contemporary world. In the United States, abortion is legal in all fifty states after the 1973 Roe vs. Wade case. In the case, Roe filed a lawsuit that not being able to undergo an abortion was violating her personal liberty and privacy; She won. Abortion is clearly defined as “the deliberate termination of pregnancy.” Both sides have their points but the ultimate choice of whether to continue legalizing abortion or whether to abolish it lies in the power of the people. There are two major groups: pro-choice, and pro-life. Those who are pro-choice believe that individuals have the right to get an abortion for the first 2 trimesters. Those who are pro-life believe that the government has the right to intervene in personal matters and prohibit abortion. There are many arguments from pro-choice and the pro-life that seem arguably, but those who are pro-life have more validity and evidence to back up belief rather than just emotional aspects. Abortion should be abolished because it not only kills an innocent human being, but also puts the person undergoing abortion at risk. Since abortion is legal, people use it as a contraceptive; however, if it is banned, it will make couples more careful about the choices they make.…

Pro-Choice means that you are for the choice of the woman; for the choice of the irresponsible woman to have her unborn baby removed from her uterus. Both ideologies are reduced to a common point that is, "the life of the baby" or "the life of the mother". The life of the baby directly depends on the choice the mother makes to either terminate the pregnancy or continue it. Although the mental well-being of a woman is discussed, how do you decide what is most traumatic for women in the case of rape? An attempt to restrict any and all abortions would raise not only the percentage of illegal and unsafe abortions but also the costs of the procedure. A new law would need to be enforced with serious consequences to deal with illegal…
