Everyone Deserves a Life
Do you ever wonder what it would be like if you were never born? Life is a beautiful thing and everyone deserves to experience it; but not everyone does and one reason is abortion. Abortion is considered strictly against a civil society, as it is murder. It punishes the innocent unborn child, by taking away its right to live. In thirteen developing countries about ninety seven percent of abortions are unsafe, which is killing the mothers of the children as well. Adoption is also another option, but is declining due to abortion. Due to all of the negative results, abortion should be banned worldwide, so everyone can experience life. On January 22nd, 1973 the Supreme Court legalized abortion nationwide, giving it the woman's decision to have an abortion within the first three months of the pregnancy. According to CBS NEWS, "The Abortion Debate Timeline" lays out the history and journey of the creation of abortions over the past thirty-nine years. Since the creation of abortion, women have taken advantage and the amount of abortions increase every year. Over 2.2 million more abortions took place in 2008 than 2003, taking even more lives. Given the number of abortions, a good amount of abortions are unsafe. " Between 1994 and 2000, the number of maternal deaths from unsafe abortions fell by ninety percent" (Bagneres 2). Abortion might seem okay to some people, but in reality abortion has caused more bad than good to our planet’s population. In developing countries, the largest proportions of hospital admissions for gynecological services are complications from unsafe abortion. “Unsafe abortion has substantial detrimental consequences for society, negatively affecting women and their families, public-health systems, and ultimately, economic productivity.” (Singh 1) Hospitals tend to be located mostly in urban areas and not everyone has access to these facilities.
