ANHEUSER-BUSCH INBEV

10 Point Analysis
Comprehensive Market Planning

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Anheuser Busch InBev is a Fortune 1000, publicly traded Multi-national Corporation headquartered in Belgium. Seven business segments have helped them become one of the world leaders in beer sales by volume. Sales and revenues increase yearly, showing the strength of the company. Their innovative style that keeps them ahead of market trends has helped and will continue to help them gain access to new market segments, knowing what their customers and future customers want. Their brand strength will help solidify their future.
Anheuser Busch InBev will have some hurdles to overcome in the coming years, but there are ways these can be overcome and still remain profitable. With consumers becoming more health conscious, alcohol sales could see a decrease, however this can give them the chance to diversify into more non-alcoholic beverage products and revenue. Anheuser Bush
InBev knows how to use its distinctive competencies to its advantage and using its overall strong brand portfolio, they will be able to weather any storm and retain, if not expand their market share. 1 - MISSION –WHAT DOES IT STATE
“Consumers come first at Anheuser-Busch InBev. Our promise is to create enduring

bonds with consumers so that they enjoy our brands time and again. One way we will realize this

is through our strong brand portfolio. Out of well over 200 brands, we prioritize a small group of

Focus Brands - the brands we believe will most effectively build deep connections with

consumers.

This is the moment when consumers ultimately choose to purchase or consume our

brands. By utilizing capabilities in sales, merchandising and distribution we will win over the

consumer at the point of connection. This entails building sales and merchandising capabilities,

achieving preferred supplier partnerships

The beer industry is a $91.6 billion market in the United States, it accounts for 52% of total alcohol beverage sales and 85% of the consumption. The industry has seen an extended period of relatively flat consumption, with the only steady growth occurring in the niche brands produced by microbreweries and imports. This flat consumption can be explained by a few factors, the industry itself has reached maturity due to the maturity of the products within it, and over 80% of the market is comprised of AB, SABMiller and Coors which have dominated the market for years. This highly developed consolidation is also the result of intense government regulations and a relatively high tax rate. Alcohol awareness campaigns and an aging population also play a role. However, there is some hope, in the last two years, total barrels sold has increased 2.1%, the biggest jump since 1990. Anheuser Busch enjoys a 48.4% market share; Miller has 29% and Coors 10%. SABMiller and MolsonCoors are currently attempting a joint venture that will combine the Miller and Coors operations. This merger will create a stronger competitor for AB as they improve efficiency, distribution and effectively "gang-up" on AB.…

New Belgium Brewing’s original marketing strategy focused on relational marketing using a “barstool to barstool” method of marketing and creating “brand stewards” in a grassroots effort to spread the word about New Belgium’s craft beers. As the company’s brand and leadership strategy matured, the marketing became proactive and focused by creating bicycle events, interesting take-away merchandise and a touring taste-testing vehicle. By forming personal relationships with their customer base, NBB organically gained market share. To remain competitive in the craft brew market and maintain its market share, NBB must explore creative and innovative marketing strategies to outperform its rivals.…
