It is now a month later since Blanche has been taken from the Kowalski’s home. Stella is running upstairs to Eunice with the baby, this is the third time Stanley had a drunken outrage and struck the baby. As she approached the stairs on the black night Stanley rushed after her. Steve: Eunice back away from that door, those two only bring trouble up here.
Eunice: Steve, have a little heart cant you hear your friends racketing about downstairs.
(Stanley and Stella are heard arguing up the stairs)
Steve: Eunice! Don’t open that door.
Eunice: Steve she needs my help.
(Steve stands and leaps toward the door just in time to prevent Eunice from opening it)

Eunice: Ohhh Stella, oh Stella, innocent child. Sit down. (She wiped the tears off of Stella’s face and took the crying baby in her lap) Stella, Steve told me something that I can’t stand to hide from you. The night of the birth of the baby, while I was at my sick aunt Ester’s Steve was home.
Stella: What are you getting at Eunice?
Eunice: You have to leave Stella, you can’t keep living with him. That night, Steve heard everything that happened, all the racket he caused, the drunk. That man has become the better of you. You have to leave Stella, listen to me, its immoral for you to keep living with that pig knowing what he did to your sister and what he continues to do... [continues]
