A Glimpse of Genius
Throughout time religion and science have typically thought to have been at war with one another. Science dropping bombs of literal meaning and accountability on cities built from Bible texts, resulting in the hierarchy of the Church scrambling for its bank accounts and retreating behind a shield of allegorical meaning. The Church once again on its feet, continues to lash out with years of spiritually imprinted genetics that have been passed down from generation to generation and with each passing honed to a razors edge and strengthened evermore. But are they really so very different? Or are they in fact much more interrelated than a first glance might reveal? Two of mankind’s leading minds have very different opinions on the matter of religion and science yet Albert Einstein and Bertrand Russell occasionally find themselves in agreement. Let’s take a closer look at some generalized opinions of these great men filtered through my own very humbled mind’s eye.
Einstein believes the most primitive form of religion derives from the assuagement of pain and fear. As a result primal human rational creates a greater all knowing god or gods that if appeased via ones actions, favor may be granted and unfortunate events avoided or even blessings gifted as remuneration. Granting man some form of stability to cling to during fearful events and trialing times. These methods of appeasement are passed down from man to child as valuable ways of gaining favor from the divine being/s. Einstein goes into further detail in regards to the Catholic Church and its hierarchy in relation to the populous of mankind and the purpose priests and other forms of mediators serve. He also speaks of priests or other men in religious power and how they might intertwine their own benefits with the religious fears of society in order to manipulate the populous to their will.
