According to the American College Dictionary water pollution is defined as :< to make foul or unclean>
Basically there are two general forms of water pollution although there are a couple variants as well. Starting out we have the two which would be direct and indirect contaminant sources. In which there was offshore drilling that was being done and truthfully I believe that this was going on long before we as citizens knew of this. However, the drill had blown up and it became national attention. Now we have a major catastrophe. Everything living in these waters are being poisoned no matter how far under. Whales and dolphins are being washed above shore dead when beached.
However some more direct sources include outfalls from factories, refineries, waste treatment plants, they emit going into direct urban supplies.
All these practices should be and are supposed to be regulated yet we still have mess after mess. I really only think they track the ones that are either publically known and or where a certain town has not backed down from giving up on township meetings demanding answers.
We have indirect sources which by the water supply from soils/groundwater systems and atmospheric via precipitation. Human agricultural practices including fertilizes and pesticides etc. We have also poor habits of improperly disposing of industrial wastes. The Atmospheric containments may contain such as gaseous emissions from automobiles, mopeds and other such as even lawnmowers.
They can be broadly classified into organic, inorganic, radioactive and acid base. There are too many in numbers to add on here but you get the idea.
Affects of water pollution can be from poisonous drinking water, poisonous food for animals. Unbalanced river and lake ecosystems that can no longer support full... [continues]
