50 First Dates

The movie I’m writing my paper on is 50 First Dates. It’s about a guy named Henry trying to build a romantic relationship with a girl named Lucy. How they went through there ups and downs in forming that relationship. Henry at first was in to short-term attractions to the tourist and very disclosed. He was afraid of commitment because of what he went through in college. He would jump from one sexual attraction to another not think anything of it. While Lucy who had a mental disorder called Goldfield Syndrome, which made her lose her short-term memory. Really had no chose on being in a relationship because she wouldn’t remember the person the next day. That would all change the moment Henry first saw her in a café. Henry at first was into hooking up with the tourist women knowing that they were leaving soon. He had a lot of short-term initials with those women. He would show them a good time while they were on vacation and then lie to them about who he was so they wouldn’t look for him. Henry didn’t really seem like he wanted to fall in love with anyone because of his girlfriend in college breaking his heart. He was very disclosed to these ladies not letting his feelings get out there. Lucy on the other hand had no relationships with any one because of the disorder. If she got to know someone one day she would forget him the very next day. A year before she was in a car accident which caused her to lose her short-term memory. She was living the same day for over a year with the help of her family lying to her about what day and year it was. So one day Henry went to eat breakfast at this local café when he laid his eyes on Lucy. He had a physical attraction to her the very first time he saw her. Lucy was sitting in a booth making a pancake house when Henry decided to walk over there and compliment her on the design. They hit it off very well at the beginning and started to talk while they ate breakfast. They had a lot of similarity from

Traditional love stories have honest, generous, and sometimes wealthy men who show up on white horses to sweep women off their feet. These stories demonstrate how two strangers can meet unexpectedly, fall in love and live happily ever after. Most romantic associations these days don’t follow this pattern and the only time you can see it nowadays is in movies. This story goes against the tradition from the beginning when Gilb defines Jake as a self-absorbed, unemployed playboy. The lies that ensue just go on to exhibit the differences between usual love stories and this love story. Throughout the entire story the audience is able to understand and identify gender roles associations and stereotype characterization through the dialog between characters, the thoughts of characters and how Gilb wants us to insert our own conceptions of the male and female stereotypes.…

Vivian had also noticed herself pulling away from Henry. She hadn’t told him about the harsh things that Roxanne had said or about the stories that John told her. Instead she had become closer to John. After a few weeks she could see that he was beginning to have feelings for her. Although she was still with Henry, much to her dismay she began to have feelings for John. The new development between Vivian and John did not go un-noticed by Henry. One night after his weekly poker game he could not take it anymore. He dragged Vivian out of the main room and into the back office. He slapped her across the face and told her that he made her famous and if she didn’t quit talking to John he would take everything away from her. There was a loud knock on the door and then he was gone. Vivian fell to the floor crying. She heard the door open – she feared it was Henry again. A figure walked in and crouched down beside…

The movie I chose to write about is “Knocked Up”. This movie is a romantic comedy that was made in 2007. This movie is considered a romantic comedy because of the jokes being told and also played on each other, and family and love also plays a huge part in this movie. This movie is about Ben (Seth Rogan) and Alison (Katherine Heigl). Ben is a laid back, pot smoking, kind of guy who is living off the money he gets from an injury, and Alison is a career minded women who has just received a promotion with E! Television. Alison goes to a nightclub with her older sister to celebrate her promotion and this is where she meets Ben. After a long night of drinking and dancing they leave with each other and end up at Alison’s pool house. They have unprotected sex, and the next morning when they wake up they realize they have nothing in common and go their separate ways. A few weeks later Alison discovers she is pregnant, and Alison’s mother tries to persuade her to have an abortion, but Alison refuses. Ben and Alison try to work things out and be together, but they run into a few issues Ben wants to continue to act like a child and have no responsibilities. After being separate for a…

The 40 Year Old Virgin is proof that comedies can still be funny. Sadly, movies like this, with a kind of consistent humor, come out too rarely. Yes, it's a little long, almost two hours, but there are plenty of laughs throughout the movie, especially in the last 30 minutes, and they also save one of the best jokes for last. If you're looking for a successor to There's Something About Mary and American Pie, look no further. It has arrived, and in my opinion, is more enjoyable than either of them.…

A behavior that would indicate easily involved with people sexually would be being involved with multiple men in span of 1 year. Ms. Crowne said during the session that “After a few months I lost interest in the current men I have been sleeping with and searched for a new one.” This show that her mental state is fluctuating between being satisfied with one lover to seeking a new but familiar experience from another. Another instance can be observed throughout her conversation with her friend Fanny. Lenina says "And to tell the truth I’m beginning to get just a tiny bit bored with nothing but Henry every day." This shows that although they have been together and she is having sexual encounters every day, Lenina is starting to feel that it is just repetition with Henry, and that it is time for a new lover. To furthermore expand on her easily involvement with other people, while on the reservation with Bernard, Ms. Crowne first thought when she meets John were “he’s such a nice- looking boy...and a really beautiful body." This shows that instead of noticing and admiring his individuality and his mind capacity, she lusts over his body and looks scouting him for a possible lover. It became obvious that Lenina had jumped from relationship to relationship…

Henry Allen is the “perfect” husband by the standards of the criteria that men were expected to have during the setting of the story. What more could a woman (in this time) want? A successful business man to provide and take care of Mrs. Allen, the occasional fluffing of egos when necessary, and of course a candle-lit dinner and a show once a month, and repeat. Henry might seem to have his wife’s best interest as long as it is also up to a woman’s standards. Mr. Allen will give or do anything for his wife to be happy as…
