Five paragraph essay model is rather simple. The first paragraph is the introduction. The middle three paragraphs are arguments. The last paragraph is the conclusion. If the essay is to be persuasive, paragraphs two and four should be for your position. This allows the weight of your paper to be in your position.

Based on my experience of writing, writing a five paragraph essay was the key success of writing the perfect essay. But in the essay “Breaking the Five-Paragraph Theme Barrier” by Thomas Nunnally, we are told that writing a five paragraph essay was to help “ learn the principles of effective composition, principles that can be applied to any writing task, not to master a single format that will answer all their writing needs.” (70-71) In other words, learning to write in this format helped students understand the different elements in an essay such as transition sentences and a thesis statement. These elements could also be applied to other styles of writings too, but most students do not realize that, since they are focused on following the…

The 5-Paragraph essay is an excellent structure to consider “the basics”. One introduces, discusses, and then wraps it up!” (Pyle 14). This model gives students an idea on how to organize ideas into well-written paragraphs because it’s easy to follow, the better an individual gets at the basics, the better writers they become. The 5-paragraph essay structure has made it easier to get my ideas in order and give readers an idea of where I stand on an issue which is very essential when it comes to writing.…

Within these five paragraphs, you had to have five to seven sentences or your paper was not using the “proper writing technique.” That is what good, effective writing was in elementary school. Now for middle school it was pretty similar but had a few tweaks made to it. We still had to write five paragraph papers, but the paragraphs went into much more detail compared to elementary school writing classes and you were able to use as many sentences you needed to get your point across. For high school, I don’t know about other schools but in my school we started to write multiple pages for a writing piece. There was a minimum and maximum amount of pages you were allowed to write and if you were over or under, you had a few points deducted. Now, being in college, I have learned that it is not about the amount of sentences, paragraphs or pages, it is about what it is you are writing about and how you present it. You don’t need three to five pages to make a good point. All you need is the knowledge of what it is you are writing about and the passion for…
