I used Global Warming as my topic.

1) www.epa.gov/climatechange/
This website was last updated on January 12, 2012, which meant it was recent and updated regularly. It is a government agency that deals with climate issues, and I found it to be an unbiased site with lots of information that pertained to my chosen subject. The authors were experts in the field of global warming and climate changes. The address also ends in .gov, which is considered reliable source using facts not opinions.

2) www.nesds.noaa.gov

3) www.edf.org/climate/global-warming-facts
This site, Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), was last updated in 2012. The site, list a postal address with a phone number of 800-684-3322, and I called it to verify if it was available. I received an automated operator of the EDF. The site’s policy states that the EDF takes a nonpartisan approach by supplying analysis and advice on important issues. The organization is funded by donors, which provide 40% of the EDF’s operating budget. The EDF is ran by scientist, economists, lawyers, and other professionals. I found this to be a credible site offering information without using opinions.

In order to search for the reputable scholarly website one must remember two basic principles: not every website has scholarly related data and not all the data has empirical foundation. The first intention of going to www.google.com will leave one with 1000’s of non-specific results. "Google Scholar" website (http://scholar.google.com), on the other hand will be more relative but not very specific. During previous discussions we have talked about American Nursing Journal. There are several reputable accrediting bodies were identified. (http://journals.lww.com/ajnonline/Pages/AbouttheJournal.aspx). After looking into those sources of ANJ, Committee of Medical Journal Editors was identified. (http://www.icmje.org/) After looking into the category of "Journals Following ICNJE" the American Journal of Public Health website was identified http://ajph.aphapublications.org This website represents an online version of over 100 years old Journal of Public Health (AJPH). This journal is dedicated to publication of original publications of original research in order to advance public health research, policy practice and education (Retrieved from http://ajph.aphapublications.org/about). The website can be further found through MEDLINE.…

Reliable source writings are everywhere, whether it be on a website or in a textbook all authors claim whatever they have to say is true, and they claim firsthand accounts. How can one be sure of themselves that any one of these authors is actually telling the truth? Some accounts can never truly be proven false or true, but evidence can lead some to come to conclusions themselves. In the two stories, or reliable source writings, Of Plymouth Plantation written by William Bradford; or The Interesting Narrative of the Life of OlaudahEquianowritten by OlaudahEquiano, both authors claim to have experienced what they wrote about firsthand. But how can one be sure that each is a “reliable source”. It all boils down to what the reader wants to believe.…

Credible sources are always a topic for debate. What is a credible source and what is not a credible source. By definition, credible means “offering reasonable grounds for being believed.” ("Merriam-Webster", 2011) Therefore a credible source is information that is true and believable. One of the sources that we discussed and debated in class is Wikipedia. “Wikipedia is an online open-content collaborative encyclopedia.......” "Wikipedia:general Disclaimer" (2011) So what about Wikipedia does or does not make it a credible source. Below I will discuss the debate outcomes, the arguments between both sides, and my reasoning for choosing the against side.…

The websites have the very similar discussions and subjects. When you read both the websites though you soon realize that they have very different approach, World Climate website mentions that human activity is causing climate change and is a perfect example of pseudoscience. This website is a blog hence any person can write what they feel strongly about without much scientific roots at all. The publishing documents or blogs are biased when you read them and do not have much reasoning to them. In research this website does not convince me because I look at it from an engineering perspective, there are only a handful of people that run this blog and they do not seem to know much about climate control or changes. The authors of this blog want to deliver a certain point of view and there is not much argue in it as well because the data shown is only making their opinion stronger instead of comparing both the view points.…
