ACTIVITY 1

The Human Resources Profession Map (HRPM) consists of 2 core professional areas, 8 professional areas and 4 professional competence bands.

Core Areas: Insights, Strategy and Solutions & Leading HR
Insights, strategy and solutions are focussed on development within an HR organisation, such as to foresee any problems that may arise and to put solutions in place. The HRPM has been designed to assist all HR professionals in any business however large or small.
Leading HR is more focussed on the personnel area and is mostly involved with leadership within a business, to give personal advice and offer ideas.

Specialist Professional Areas
Organisational design: Being able to deliver business objectives, foreseeing any issues that may arise, assessing and developing these.
Organisational development: The ability to deliver the objectives and management practices.
Resourcing and talent planning: Assure you employ the best people for the job. (Including inductions and exit interviews).
Learning and talent development: Making sure employees have the correct knowledge and training and introducing procedures to enable staff to do this.
Performance and reward: Monitoring employees’ performances and assuring recognition is given when necessary.
Employee and engagement: To ensure the emotional connection between the employee, colleagues and managers is understood and to assist with any issues that may arise for both employees and managers.

Employee relations: To enhance those relationships between all employees adhering to policies and procedure whilst following employment law. Within my role I have covered a safety critical role within a safety environment – simple things like making sure the correct equipment was being used where and when necessary also making sure this equipment was calibrated correctly.
Service delivery and information: To be sure that the HR services and information is delivered accurately to managers and
