In order to develop to a band 2 HR professional it is essential to self-assess areas in which competency does or does not exist at band 1 HR Assistant developing in to band 2 HR Advisor.
To aid with this process the CIPD Profession Map can be used to identify where areas need to be developed. Throughout this report I am going to evaluate and assess areas specific to me including the 2 core professional areas, the specialist professional areas, the bands and the behaviours.
After analysing the skills required in order to achieve ‘insights, strategies and solutions’ it became apparent that the majority of band 1 skills I already possess. Upon this finding I discovered an area I need to develop to progress to the next level was activity 1.4.2 Share your insight and work with colleagues (across HR or specialist area) and managers to influence the development of organisational plans and priorities’. In order to achieve this it may be of use to organise a training day to the relevant staff and discuss topics that cover organisation policies and procedures.
