From the question of what is love, people may hear many different answers from philosophers, psychologists, novelist, poet, or other people. Even though people have experienced falling in love with someone, they have different definition on the question of what is love? A philosopher, Julian Baggini, said, “Love is a passionate commitment.” He said love is not only one quality, but there are love for friends, wife and husband, God, money, nation, children and so on. So love has many qualities, which could define love. But all those love could lead people not only the best, but also worst. So when those love lead people to the bad, people must go over those worst situations. So the love is more than feelings, but commitment. When people commit to overcome any problems that they meet, they will nurture. And if there is no nurturing, even the best will be dead. The romantic novelist Jojo Moyes said, “Love dries all great stories.” She believes that before achieving something, there must be a relationship between friends, family, God, one-self, or etc. And that relationship could be defined as love. So when they make love or relationship in order to achieve marriage, business, and anything that people want to achieve. The nun Catherine Wybourne said, “Love is free yet binds us.” This means people love God, so people must do what God wants them to do. Love is so free when that love is in God. God wants people to acts of mercy, kindness, sacrifice, and self-devote. So when people live their lives for others, it could bonds people together. The Physicist, Jim Al-Khalili said, “Love is Chemistry.” This is because when both people involve in a sexual relationship, it increase and release testosterone and oestrogen

The agency of Job and Odysseus is controlled by God and the gods. Neither Job nor Odysseus have agency when the gods are against them. The relationship between the divine and human agency is a well-established one in both the ancient Hebrew and ancient Greek cultures. Many acts that could be attributed to human agency are often credited to gods, especially human errors or misdeeds. Humans try to forfeit a good deal of their agency to the gods willingly. Nevertheless the gods have no reservations about revoking agency from humans. Neither Job nor Odysseus had agency when a god was against them.…

Western culture has been a significant factor when it comes to the history of homosexuality. In this culture, male homosexuality has always been more acknowledged in comparison to female homosexuality. Men have historically been deemed as a more advanced gender when compared to women (Whitehead, 2010). Nonetheless, it was not uncommon for Roman men to take on a feminine identity and act as such (Nevid, Rathus, et al., 2005). Once the Roman Empire fell, Christianity started to become more influential in this capacity and homosexuality was condemned. This has endured throughout the years and has fashioned various societal norms. This influence is especially prevalent today. As such, many homosexuals refrain from acting as masculine or feminine as they would like to be.…

An indisputable fact about humanity is that every individual owes their existence to the physical union between their father and mother, and this reality forms the basis for the concept of family. However, anthropologists clearly point out that the existence of homosexuality has been identified in some societies at different degrees of prevalence throughout the history. The trait of homosexuality can be simply defined as the sexual attraction between the individuals of the same sex. A homosexual person in the male gender is called ‘gay’ while the term ‘lesbian’ represents a homosexual female. Over the past three decades, the number of homosexuals has dramatically increased and such trait has increasingly grown to be mainstream and open.…

Love is a complex emotion of attachment and obsession. Love cannot be classified so easily, though; it cannot be stuffed into a social concept and left there. Love has many different meanings to many different people; it can be tossed aside like a dirty rag, unimportant and forgotten, or cherished and cared for like a priceless gemstone. To me, love is a connection between the hearts and minds of two people. It is a feeling of trust and wholeness; a feeling that in the other person’s eyes, you can do no wrong. To explain the process of “falling in love,” I will use a hypothetical couple and analyze their relationship as it progresses.…

The homosexual movement began to drastically increase in the early 1980s. With this came a strong back lash from those that felt homosexual equality would ruin America. Jerry Falwell, a white, male, conservative, and Christian, was one of the leaders of this backlash. This article significantly shows the two very different beliefs in America, and the intensity with which people believed in their side. In 1973, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) removed homosexuality as a mental disorder from the APA’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. This decision was a significant victory for homosexual activists who have continued to claim that the APA based their decision on new scientific discoveries that “proved” homosexual behavior is normal and should be affirmed in our culture. This is false and part of the numerous homosexual urban legends that have infiltrated every aspect of our culture. The removal of homosexuality as a mental disorder has given homosexual activists credibility in the culture, and they have demanded that their sexual behavior be affirmed in society.…

Media coverage surrounding alternative sexualities has also expanded in recent years and, in the wake of gay liberation and the emergence of lesbian and gay studies, an ever increasing flow of academic documentation pertaining to sexual orientation has flourished. We now know more about homosexual lives in general and about the experiences of particular groups such as those in prison those who offer sex in exchange for money and those who lived during particular historical periods. However, with the knowledge and awareness about what it means to be gay or lesbian has increased considerably, there remains an ignorance on a number of homosexual issues. Explanations of why sexual orientations differ are still inadequate, and in a society that can still be hostile towards "deviant" sexual relationships, particularly in conjunction with various other co-factors such as occupation, can affect self-esteem, the development of personal identity, Christian ethics and general psychological functioning.…

In this day and age where technology is fast improving and more people receiving proper education, we would expect society to be more liberal but that is not always the case. Through news articles posted on social media sites, I have read about homosexual people being heavily punished and even put to death for being different. One particular article had a ghastly video attached that filmed how a gay African man was prosecuted in public and it did not sit well with me. It is pretty hard to remain ignorant. We may not witness gay bashing in our society but that does not mean it is not happening in the world around us. Some of these brutal events are happening in developed countries…
