Lincolnshire County Psychology Service & Early Years Support Service Name of Course: Early Years SENCo Training: Supporting Early Identification and Intervention for Children with Special Educational Needs Course Aims To enable participants to: • • • Implement the Special Educational Needs of Code of Practice in the Foundation Stage. Promote inclusion for all children in their setting. Develop an understand of disability quality issues, including disability rights legislation and how they relate to policy and practice in the settings. Gain confidence and understanding in helping to integrate planning and practice for special educational needs within the Foundation Stage curriculum. Explore and develop the role of partnership with parents. Explore issues relating to young children in terms of identification, diagnosis and early intervention. Develop an understanding of the role of other relevant professionals working in Education, Health and Social Services and the benefits of multi-agency approaches. (SENCO’s and Early Years Practioneers working in the Foundation Stage)
